Picture number 1 is your picture, picture number 2 is my compressor. I obviously have the older intake position. Two reasons pop to my pumpkin. One, notice the fins on the head are 90° different on yours and mine. I would guess yours has a better cooling air flow with the fins in that direction. Second, perhaps they were able to reduce manufacturing cost of the plumbing from the head by rotating it 90°. I’m thinking it’s more #2 than #1, but improved cooling never hurts.

The only thing that has me thinking is the newer style air cleaner being on the right probably picks up more heat being located directly over the second stage cylinder? Where as the older style isn't located over any cylinder. Um:unsure:
Don’t forget, there’s a lot of air being forced across that cylinder so I’m thinking the compressor really isn’t drawing in HOT air.

Hey, big favor to the fellow Alkin owners- the next time you do a maintenance oil change(hopefully soon for someone) can you grab the thread pitch of your drain plug for me?
Hopefully it’s still the same as the one on my 2004 model, which is a button head Allen cap screw, that uses a 5mm Allen tool. If I had to guess it’s an M6 thread but I’m not sure, and I recently just filled mine with new oil.

Once I find the thread pitch, my goal is to install a mini ball valve with hose barb or push to lock at the front end to rig a small length of hose to make oil changes a snap and a less messy ordeal.
Currently I’m having to set up a drain Pan along with a funnel and I still leave a small mess after it’s drained, due to the air cooling piping in the way.
Not to mention dropping the plug into the oil pan this last oil change.

Early ones were on the front of the first stage head..
You must have either the new 2023 model or NOS?

It looks like the plumbing on the left coming from that middle cylinder head is on the left side on pic 1, unsure if it’s the same on pic 2. Also the vent on top is plumbed opposite also. Might not be a big deal but if it were me I’d inquire to Alkin about the changes.

I wonder if the parts diagram in the owners manual reflects those changes

Something like this might work? I used their plugs on my vehicles and boat in the past.

It does reflect the new style air cleaner, I'll have to check on the vent and plumbing

@Bigragu Information for that part may be stated in the parts list. The newer compressors come with an instruction manual (booklet) and a separate parts list (booklet) with illustrations of parts and where they fit in the compressor assembly. If anyone has a parts list on hand, they should be able to provide this info.

Had both of my smaller guppie bottles (black benjamin) down to about 2500. I hooked em up piggyback with a tman, and in 3:27 the pump cut off (4750). This would have been a 2-3 hour affair with my old shoebox. Longer if i had to do work on the pump (and i usually get to work on it every 3rd or 4th session). This thing is so nice. This is the set up i use to connect 2 bottles at a time to my compressor.
