lol, just joking. Made me think of that scene from Wolf of wall street.
Long story short is that I have a big Sheldon 4.2 CFM compressor and I had filled all my tanks up before I got the Alkin. So I will soon have to top off all my tanks and the Alkin will get some use at that time.

If anyone talks to anyone at Alkin, please ask them where the compressor oil vent cap is at for my 2004 horizontal model. I keep emailing them to find out status and I’m not getting replies back. This part is no longer available so the last thing told to me by Alkin was engineering was going to redesign and build them again, but that was almost two months now since I contacted Alkin for that part. What gives, man?

@Bigragu I haven’t had that experience with the emails. I would be perturbed. Have you called them? Every time I call during business hours someone answers the phone.
They did reply and told me almost 6 weeks ago they haven’t forgotten me and are designing and recreating that oil plug, and that it takes time. The last words were “we should know in a couple of days”

Well I’ve sent two emails within the last two weeks requesting status and that’s when I see no one is now replying back.

Alkin should make it right. Bigragu can you post a pic of what part you are missing?
All my pics are in this thread:

All my pics are in this thread:
saw the pics, unfortunately I don't have that on my model otherwise I could probably print something similar to fit.

Well, I was recently told by Alkin im
out of luck on that part, and their suggestion is to just get a brass threaded plug and plug up the oil fill, but with no allowance for venting. I asked them about the need for venting and they said the tube coming from a cylinder head and routed to the mold just under the oil fill hole(and high up above the oil level)already allows the crank pressures to vent, after they asked for pics of my 2004 model-

Someone look at that same tube on their model and correct me if im wrong, but it appears to me Alkin is venting one of the cylinder heads via thru the crank case and using the oil plug vent also as it’s breather.

Up top is another tube coming from another cylinder head with a tube that goes to a port that the air filter is threaded into, and it also makes sense that Alkin is using the air filter as a way to vent that cylinder head- am I correct? If my logic makes sense, then that is why Alkin from the factory used a venting oil plug, right? And not a solid brass threaded plug to begin with.

Still love my Alkin, and I would continue to buy them if mine were ever stolen, lost or destroyed. I just don’t like the fact it took near two months for them to let me know it’s a lost cause to get a replacement, and to “just plug it”.

I did reply back to them about my theory on how Alkin utilized the crank case and the air filter to vent the cylinder heads, and that a solid plug wouldn’t work, but got no reply back.

Got one on the way, can't wait for it to arrive. The guys at Alkin have been put thru the ringer with my questions. They have been great. I was looking at a used unit, and Maher was very supportive in that inquiry, in the end i decided to go with a new machine vs used. They were happy to help and offer support either way. Great group of people, and i look forward to doing more business with them in the future. Will post pics when the unit arrives.

On my "Old School" W31 there is No "Breather" /Vent cap or fitting...
Yes there are the small tubing connecting the crankcase to the Intake (behind the filter)
Then there is the tube connecting the 3rd stage cylinder to the oil fill extension neck.
But the Cap is solid and even has a Dowdy washer for a seal.

The tubing system is acting like the PCV on your car!
I maintains a Negative Pressure in the crankcase....
So any blow-by in the pistons system is routed to the intake of the compressor..
Also it establish there will no pressure build up to blow out any seals.

I can’t get decent photos of the tubing because the fan cover blocks a lot of it. It connects to the top of the first-stage cylinder and runs towards the rear crankcase where the fan is. I don’t see anything that resembles Augie’s or @Ca_Varminter’s photos. I only see one plastic tube from the top of the first-stage cylinder to the top-rear of the crankcase. The rest are metal tubes.

I’m not sure exactly what this safety valve is for. The parts list say the last photo it a “9 BAR car 1/4” safety valve.” I’m stumped on the original question. I don’t know my way around these compressors like some of y’all. I hope some of these photos helped. Maybe a look at the parts list of the most current model would help some. I flipped through it and didn’t see any parts or anything about a vent hole or breather.
