FX Officially an FX owner now.

If I do decide to tinker and switch things around, it probably won't be too drastic. Maybe a .25 cal barrel at some point? I would prefer to stay with pellets, this whole PCP venture is strictly for fun for me. I don't plan on doing any hunting other than the occasional pesting session, so I really see no need for going down the slug rabbit hole. This is definitely a leisure activity for me so the KISS formula will definitely come into play.
Swapping out the barrel leads to other things, mostly not good unless you get really lucky the first go round. Your gun MIGHT like the 22gr RMR slugs, they are the ones who make the FX slugs, but at that short range it's not worth it.

Put that M4 to the test, starting from shot #1 after it’s sat for a few hours, and shoot all the way to reg pressure, then let’s look at that shot string along with targets. So many are all about shot count, so let’s test it, to see the consistency and accuracy
I was told to stay anywhere from 20-30 BAR above reg pressure to be on the safe side and to not have to worry about loss of performance. So far I have been refilling at 130 BAR. Im chasing down a small leak on my compressor (not able to find it yet) but will give your suggestion a try once I am able to fill up again.
heres some numbers from a shot string on the 5th, its only 10 shots but may be of interest to some. this session started at 250 BAR and bottle was down to 130 BAR after 175 shots...first 10 shots were as follows. 910, 912, 908, 912, 909, 910, 913, 910, 915, 912....avg 911, ES 7, SD 2.8

I know this is not what Bigragu was asking to see but its the best I can do for now. Cheers

Yeah it’ll take a good afternoon to put that to a test. If you notice not a lot of folks will post up strings with high shot count as to get a low ES and SD consistently your regs have to be in tip top shape. Back in 2021 while not paying attention to my chrono I shot these with my dual reg’d impact mk2-

Two different sessions

And then recently, with my Skout Epoch, it shot this string-

The Skout is an unbelievable gun, but that’s for another thread- I apologize for derailing

Not at all, I don't mind a bit because I'm interested to know how consistent my rifle is as well, and if any further fine tuning is needed.
I'm fully aware I may be getting stellar results out to 30 yards, but the things could fall apart at say 50 yards etc...ive been shooting a long time, I know how the game goes for sure. By the way that's some impressive SD Numbers for those shot strings

Exactly why I'm really not interested in slugs at this time, I really have no need for shooting past 50 yards so slugs seem pointless for now

So my entry to the world of PCP began with a couple months of research before finding the forum here, tons of great info and some very helpful folks here and Im so grateful for that. I ended up staying with my original and most researched choice, the FX Impact M4, the Copper color in .22 cal. Kind of a "damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead" moment, despite the negatives Ive read about here. Im happy to say that my particular M4 seems to be just fine. Shout out to the fellas at The Pellet Shop, the rifle arrived fast, charged to 260 BAR, and fully tuned to my choice of pellets. They also threw in a free t-shirt, pellet saver band, and a bag of Twizzlers. :D I mounted an Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 scope with MOA reticle and 30 mm tube, great combo!

Im shooting JSB 18.13 pellets. Reg, came set at 110, 15 on macro, micro set a shade over 2.5, Valve adjuster shoes what looks to be about 4.5 lines. This morning my Magneto speed V3 chrony showed a high of 915 low of 908, avg 911, ES 7, SD 2.8 over a string of 10 shots. With all the rain my shooting has been limited to out the bedroom window at distances varying from 20-35 yards, but let me tell you this thing is impressive. with a lull in the rain yesterday i was literally smashing flies at 20 yards. the giggle factor was off the charts.

I recieved the M4 on the 1st, as I stated the reg was set to 110, over the first 24 hours it dropped to 105 but has been rock steady there for 3 days now, assuming the drop was temperature related since my house is quite cool. The bottle pressure dropped to 255 as well. I dont see this as an issue, i expected things to settle a bit. My first refill came after the first 175 shots, bottle pressure was 145, figured filling early would avoid loss of performance. So far Im happy as a clam, great looking rifle that doubles as a fly swatter, no apparent issues. Hopefully the weather clears soon so I can stretch out the distance. (y)
Nice picture!

Encore- do yourself a big favor being this is your first pcp and a complicated one at that, keep a notebook dedicated to this gun and detail note everything you do, every adjustment you make. Take note of your tunes and at whet part of the day the tunes were found/achieved. Temps, humidity, etc. very rare does an impact remain exactly as you left it six months ago so it’ll be handy to be able to find out wher could be the reasons for any changes

One step ahead of you there Bigragu, I've not.made any changes to the tune but I have been keeping track of bottle and reg pressure, number of shots vs how many BARS used, velocities,etc...today marked the first 500 pellets through the M4. Cleaned with a dab of Ballistol, and a pull through cleaning system. From the looks of the patches I need to clean at about the 250 mark from here on out. Ballistol is great stuff, been using it for close to 25 years now.

Notes:

1. Maximum trigger block operating pressure is 250 bar. Bottle should NOT be charged to > 250 bar without the addition of a 1st stage regulator to step down bottle pressure to </= 250 bar.

2. Plenum max operating pressure is 170 bar.

3. Regulator is adjustable NOT variable. It is designed to be set to 1 desired output pressure and NOT routinely varied.

4. It is best practice (to maintain regulator service life) to ONLY RAISE regulator output pressure when the rifle is pressurized. To lower regulator output pressure the rifle should be depressurized.

5. It is best to let the rifle sit a few hours after a regulator adjustment to verify final pressure.

In all honesty, they are somewhat pointless out to 100, it's more the challenge of getting them to work well. Now if it's windy they are nice to have, that and a lot of luck.

welcome and congrats

Not broke, but damn sure put a dent in my bank account. 😆
Last week I purchased a M4 with some goodies thinking everything was all good :cool:and on Thursday the transmission went out so on Friday paid cash for my wife's new 🚙 leaving $201 in my savings! 🤬 That was a big swift kick to the groin! On a positive note I don't have a car payment.
