Tuning Oh!......."O" Rings and .............service on a FX MK II...How many

Like PigeonMan I have had my Impact a couple of years with only one o-ring failure and I damaged the o-ring when I tore the gun apart for the sixth or eighth time to mod it. I was concerned in the beginning and purchased an O-ring kit off of the net so I had the one I needed on hand.

If you have any kind of mechanical ability at all it will be easy to replace o-rings and there are many vids available on the net to help with this.

Ernest R. has vids.......on YT...However I was hoping a few tips on how to pro - long a possible "O" ring leak. When you tear down do you R&R all "O" rings and lube w/silicone grease?

I am getting a New M3...No doubt MORE "O" rings w/ the added reg etc. I saw a Vid on a guy w/ new M# who put his Rear/Butt gauge just above the trigger on right side...(advantage ...so you could see gauge w/O turning gun upside down) I wish to do this Mod ..Looks like a aftermarket part insert gauage @ front tube of Plenum...Have you heard or seen this? See below the GOOFY!!!..Wooooo! guy...highly irritating but informative.....so thanks anyway! :

It’s all in the five P’s with working on these pcp”s. Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Just today I swapped in for a new dual hole transfer port in one of my rigs, along with a pellet probe. Had to drain the air out of the gun, for one of the other tasks I did, and common sense tells me on a gun that’s been sitting under high pressure air for a long while, if you wait too long or leave the gun overnight not reassembled back together, you’re gonna get a surprise leak come morning when you reassemble and fill with air, cause the o rings inside were allowed to shrink back up which will not necessarily mean they’ll take back the same shape when refilled with air. Plus, if it’s been over a year or two those o rings inside have had their time. The lesson here is always be prepared to replace an o ring anytime you plan on draining the air out for some type of service, on any pcp.

To CHECKURSIX, go on oringsandmore.com. Or theoringstore.com and familiarize yourself with the ordering of o rings. Download the FX parts diagram from the FX website for your gun and learn to pull all the o ring sizes out for your M3 and learn how to order them. In the end you’ll spend less than buying in kit form, and have enough to reseal your M3 for at least 10 complete reseals.

These o rings that FX uses, between the X rings, the polyurethane, and the different durometer thicknesses, these aren’t the typical o rings that you’ll find at the local building supply house or plumbing store.

To Bigragu:

You rock....Good insight and thanks " if you wait too long or leave the gun overnight not reassembled back together, you’re gonna get a surprise leak come morning when you reassemble and fill with air, cause the o rings inside were allowed to shrink back up which will not necessarily mean they’ll take back the same shape when refilled with air. "

Thanks for insight to peruse the FX site Dia.

There are Frek'n (76) "O"....my god! rings in the M3.............

What is Z very best way to preserve these........ Maybe bleed down air in system to X??? for storage if you do not shoot foe a month or two....Seems logical Not to leave High Pressure in system???

Am I on to sompt'n here and what would you suggest to store Pressure to be....All in the interest of Not addressing the dreaded "O" ring circus?

You don't touch your M3.

Go buy orings and silicon lube to have in your drawers for piece in mind. You may no need them for months or years or you may need them tomorrow afternoon.

For $25 you get the entire set 20-25 pieces each size, you safe for years to come.

I have two friends not really mechanically inclined, they brought me theire pistols and rifles not behaving well, I ordered the orings set for those as well and now I have in my drawers well over 2K pieces over 100 dimensions. Who knows ... next week I would need one?

I have rebuilt my MKII recently with new rings. It wasn't leaking but was used, so I wanted to know what the status of the rings were is why I changed them all. It was fairly easy really, just a lot of them and took some time to be careful as I wasn't familiar with this platform. I spent more time researching and finding out what I needed to order than it took to replace them. I burnished them all with silicon grease so they were easier to install and also to make them last longer. I wouldn't be scared of doing this as it's not hard to do at all. That one regulator housing O-ring was probably the most challenging of them all, but still very doable. This rebuild should last a good 2 to 5 years before I do it again.

Just tore into my wildcat MK2 as velocities were erratic. Sure enough as I figured, sticking valve stem. I’ve had my gun filled to spec since my surgery and I’m figuring from the lack of use combined with fluctuating temps in my gun room in the garage cause the stickiness.
I swapped out all the o rings in the air tube as I new better. Here’s the reason why a gun taken apart should always have spare, fresh o rings for it at the ready, as the original ones pretty much take a shape all their own-

this is the o ring that the regulator sits against the Huma power plenum. Air coming out the vent hole in the air tube.

Complete W/ photos....brings new meaning to being helpful......Thanks.

Speaking of the dreaded Wear Prone "O's" I am going to install a Newly introduced " ManOmeter on the new M3 located at the rear Trigger housing Jus at the Plenum front of tube area negating the ManOmeter located ar rear/butt area pointing downward........this New Config. is a 45 degree on M3 so you can see reading with gun shouldered.....

No doubt requiring new "O's" Might you see any issues with this set up?....(see below) about 1/3 in..
