Oh Rats

@Max115 The rat at 52 yards must have sensed you ranging him because he boogied up out of there. Glad to see you exercising restraint with the rats atop of the feeder. I know that has got to be tempting to want to shoot them up there. Good emphasis on not having a safe backstop. Besides, you definitely don’t want lead in the feed. I wish there was a way to deter them by having a more attractive bait outside of the feeders. Some of this rats have gotten huge. Thanks for sharing. I also wanted to ask, are you still collecting rat carcasses to lure yotes lurking around the farm? Or was that only necessary at another location?

It was a privilege and lucky for me to meet these farmers and got the permissions to shoot at their farms freely. Just a common courtesy that I respect their equipment, property and of course the safety of their livestock.

I am helping them to do some pest control and in return, they gave me the freedom to come and go as I pleased and most of all, I have a private and secure place to practice, and improve my shooting skill. So it is a win win situation for me.

I picked up the dead rats that I could and disposed them. I don’t use them as bait. The coyotes are at a different farm.

@Barnamwam. Thank you for watching. I was using the Pard008 LRF, a night vision scope unit with laser range finder built in. I like this NV unit much better compared to my other Pard007S, a clip on unit onto the back of a scope. Much harder to line up the unit properly in terms of the picture alignment and the position of the reticle. I am considering getting another Pard008, but the newest model.
