I've been out of the active airgunning world for a few years now...10-12 years ago I was neck-deep...when the Marauder first came out...I still have a modified .22 Gen I that I did some valve and port work and installed an LW barrel in with a custom, laminated thumbhole stock with some nice trimmings...is shoots 16 grain pellets at 950fps for 40 shots per fill...I killed over 2000 squirrels with it over 6-7 years. I bought a .25 Marauder around the same time and worked on it, but it was an absolute air hog...only 24 shots per fill....I put it in a bullpup stock and my Son loved it so I gave it to him for a BDay present.
I bought a Cricket in .25 as a gift to myself when I retired from the Marine Corps in 2013 and I've been hunting it nearly exclusively since. I've started shooting the PRS series and discovered the NRL22.....I'm looking to start shooting it to up my PRS game and was happy to hear they have an AG class now. As I've been looking at guns to shoot the series with that will most closely match my PRS gun (an RPR the wife bought me for a BDay present 2 years ago that I've done some work on to make it slick...with a Proof barrel that I won at my first PRS match)....as I look around, I can spend $2K on an FX Impact, and get modular design, or $1700 on a Uragan that is sidelever (not bolt), and several other $1600-$2K guns.....I've looked at the AEA's, but they're all sold out everywhere....I haven't looked at a Benjamin in 8 years...then I saw they had a Marauder in a chassis and call it the Armada...it looks to be the closest to my PRS gun that I'm going to find...ergonomics-wise.
I'm wondering if anyone has worked on them? I know HUMA makes a reg for them, and it's my understanding their barrels are pretty decent nowadays (although the Green Mountain in my Gen I .25 Marauder was extremely accurate). I'm just wondering if I can get this thing to run with a decent shot count, say 32 per fill at 950-ish fps, or if I'd wind up with $2k in the thing before I got it competitive?
