Results OKC Gun Club Field Target Results 5/21/22 (+pictures)

This morning it was a bit on the chilly side when we started (55 deg and windy) and a bit muddy, but the rain had stopped. I even heard a couple of guys saying that they might just go back home! But I'm happy to report everyone stuck it out, and before long the weather didn't seem to bother anyone. It was great weather by the time we got going.

We wound up with 15 shooters today, aged 8-80(+), ready to enjoy some shooting time. Mission accomplished. We have some great people here, and it's good to see some good young people coming up through the shooting ranks with their dads and/or grandpa's. Good shooting today, Gideon!

Thanks to all those who work to make these matches happen. We had a big crew Friday morning to setup targets; it went so fast. Thanks guys. And a special thanks to those who worked on the course all through the week (mowing, weed eating, match directing), but didn't even get to shoot (Tony, Randy, and Pearl). We hope to see you all back on the shooting line next month.

Another fantastic match too!
Prior to arriving, I expected to see only a few hardcore shooters. But no! Fifteen hardcore shooters showed up to test their shooting prowess against 15 mph winds, 55 degree weather with overcast skies ( is was 95 degrees only a few days ago) and a challenging course with one target accidentally set at 43 yards with a half-inch KZ!! 
If I were to have walked the course prior to the match, I would have guessed high score would be in the low forty’s considering the wind. Only a few 2” targets with a lot of 1”-1-1/2” KZ’s and quite of few <1” as well. Boy was I wrong! 
Mark W. demonstrated why you shouldn’t discount the performance of a springer by posting a 51/60 tying top score in PCP!
Mike M. who is always on the podium, tied Woody L. who shot a stellar match too. Yours truly missed making it a three-way 1st place by a single missed shot. Mike A. finished with a 49 and Steve H. and Don F. shot a matching 48. That’s six shooters within three shots! This was a real nail biter of a match. 
The predominant and winning gun was the Marauder. The top three finishers for a total of six shooters were looking through Hawke scopes and five Athlon’s made their presents known. 10.34g pellets were by far and away the most popular but the winning pellet was the 13.43 MRD.

The OKC Club also awarded the top three shooters these really cool laser cut poker chips. This is the type of effort that sets this club apart from other clubs. I can only imagine what they will do for a special match!

Looks like I missed a great match. Thank you both Mike and Dave for posting about the match! They were good write ups and great photos! The weather will be better next month!!! Also thank you to all that help preparing the range and targets for our matches. See all next month.
