Oklahoma City had their July 23rd XFT match. Yes it was somewhat hot, hovering around 100 degrees! We started the match at around 8:00am to help with the heat. We had 9 shooters show up. A few were out of town and say they will be at the next one! We did get to shoot under the canopy on the silhouette range. That made it all the nicer! The wind was out of the south hitting us with up to 16mph. Luckily it was not a constant wind during the match.
Shooting a 39 was Mike. Butch with a 36 and Thom with a 34 were 2nd and 3rd.
We shot at our "No Strings Attached" targets out to 98 yards. No cease fires! KZ's were 3/4" to 3 1/2". The closest one was at 28 yards and the furthest was out to 98 yards. With a Troyer of 31. We shot Hunter style as we are making sure everything is working great. The folks had a good time and said they are looking forward to the next match. Yes we brought out the very juicy Watermelon. Nice to have after a hot day.
Pearl and I really want to thank our shooters for all the help they do setting up the targets. Not only does it go quicker, but the fellowship is great. We call them the Worker Bee's!! And we get it done for sure!! We shot 11 targets 4 times each for a 44 round match. As we are getting our feet wet during this XFT discipline, we will be making more targets over the winter. So we will be able to have bigger matches next season.
We had a few that asked for us to do something a little different next match. Like hiding targets, shooting through something and hit maybe a target lol. So we will try and come up with ideas, cant wait!

Thank you. We do like this silhouette range a lot. This range has silhouette animals all the way to 500 meters. You cant really see them in the photos as they are all laying down. Waiting to be reset with air. There is a whole air system going down to the 500 meter line. We reset the animals at the firing line with the push of a button!! It was a lot of work, but when done it was cool!! And this is only one of the different ranges here at OKCGC. We are in the process of extending the high power 600 yard range out to 1000 yards!

I had the pleasure of shooting with Mike A at this event while he showed us how to do it. Here he is knocking down another 98 yard target. Good shooting Mike! This was another great match with Randy and Pearl keeping things running smoothly. Looking forward to the next one in October. And keep that watermelon coming! Thanks.
