Well we decided to have a 52 round Field Target match, for two reasons. 1 it was hot and humid and 2 we had lunch for everyone! Both went off great, everybody had a great time shooting and eating! The shooting was in the heat, but the lunch was inside with Air Conditioning!!! 14 shooters showed up for both the match and the lunch.
The match started at 9:00 am after the shooters had a chance to make sure their holdovers were right where they needed to be. They drew the chips for the proper lanes to go to and after everyone was in place, we called out “WE ARE HOT”. It didn’t take these guys long to send the pellets down range hitting KZ’s and yes even some Face Plates. But that’s the nature of the beast! Walking through the course area taking photos, shooters had smiles on their faces while talking with their shooting partner. I was wondering if the course was set too low on the Troyer and would someone clean the course. We put targets in shadowy spots and placed targets where the shooter had to move to see and hit it. No one cleaned the course. Mike Atwell came close with a 50, nice concentration Mike! Mark Welker and Thom AKA “Skittles” Davies ended with 49s. They had a shoot off with Mark hitting one more! Mark took 2nd and Skittles in 3rd. Nice shooting you guys! Jon Wren was shooting his pistol in this rifle match. It was not easy for him but he had a great time getting used to the pistol and eating afterwards!
Rick C. was Oh so close with a 48 and Butch E. with a 47. Dave C., Bob B., John S., Al D., Tony “The Man” Smith., Leon O. even showed up! Steve G. came over and Rick F. was here as well. Thank you guys for coming out in the Oklahoma heat to play Shootem Up! These are a great bunch of folks that always help out with whatever needs to be done. I would like to acknowledge that Dave Cole and Al DiJorio for picking up all the targets, winders and even put them in the buckets. While everyone was eating maybe? They did come in and have lunch, Thank You!
