We had our September XFT match this past Labor Day Weekend. The attendance was better than what we thought it would be, with 14 shooters wanting to shoot! It was hot and humid, but the Okies are used to the weather this time of the year. Thanks for being able to shoot under the canopy. We pulled lane chips and the paired up shooters. They went to their lanes. We started at 9 and everything went smoothly for the day. We had a few non shooters show up to visit, but NOT get in the way:LOL:!!! We set up the course just a little harder to keep everyone on their toes. No one cleaned the course but sure came close though. That created a shoot off, and one that was not so easy!!:cool:
First I want to thank everyone that helps to set up and tear down for not only this match but everyone we do. It could not come off as well as they do!
I will start off with 4th and 5th places. They were tied: Pearl Stonebraker and Mike Atwell both with 36's. It went to the standing lane where Pearl hit 3 and Mike hit 2!
For 3rd that was Mr. Mark Welker nailing 37 KZ's.
Then we all had to wait to see where the top two shooting and hitting 41 KZ's. So Dave Cole and Rick Cussio were off to lane #4. Now Thom Davies (not shooting) was here helping out with the match. Him and I decided to go BIG, well maybe a little on the SMALL side., Mike Atwell was pushing us along too. We put the 1" KZ at 62 yards, "say what" some said. These are good shooters and they said whatever I want to do, your the MD. Okay, lets go I said. The order of the shooting went Rick one shot then Dave one shot. I don't remember how many times they both shot as we were on the edge of our seats! About 5 tries Rick hit his, Dave's turn, Dave nailed his. Started again and it went about 4 more tries. On Ricks shot he missed, you guessed it, Dave knocked over his. We Have a Winner, Mr. Cole!!
PS. I didn't get a lot of photos, oops Sorry about that.

The white Target is the 1" that we used @ 62 Yards!!!

As always, another great match held by a great club!
The shoot off between Rick and I was a ton of fun. I’ve never been in a shoot off before. I’ve almost never score high enough to be part of one. I’ve been told a shoot off can rattle your nerves but for me it was no different than hanging out at Rick’s place throwing shots down range so it was just like being back home. Worse thing that could happen to me was to finish second.
We took turns shooting once. Rick shot first then I shot. We both missed the first two shots. Then Rick’s third shot found that tiny 1” circle 62 yards away on his third shot. What would be the odds of me making impact too? In Vegas, it would have been a bookmaker’s dream. Bingo. tango down. Then we went to missing our fourth, fifth and sixth shots. A 1” KZ @ 62 yards with a light swirling breeze can mess with ya. And I must admit, at this point it was becoming a bit intense. It was eerily quiet. No background chatter, birds chirping, it was as if we were the only two on the planet. Not even the powder burners one range over was making any noise.
Shot seven for Rick was a miss. As I prepared for my shot and placed the crosshairs on the KZ for the seventh time, I noticed a lot of impacts at the edge of the KZ at two-three o’clock on the well shot up faceplate. I made a very, very slight adjustment to the POA down to around eight o’clock on the KZ and squeezed off the shot swinging the face plate backwards.
Thanks Rick for the shoot off. There is no one I would have rather shot against (well, maybe Stevie Wonder)
Those seven shot were more fun than forty-four shots it took to get there.

Here are some pics I took at the match.
