Results Oklahoma City Field Target 11/20/21

Today (Sat.) we held our last regular scheduled match for 2021. We do not schedule for the winter months Dec., Jan., or Feb. However, if we have a nice day in those months we have pick up matches if enough shooters are willing.

Last month our course had a troyer 0f 27. We increased the possible distance on some lanes and reduced the kill zone to increase the difficulty Estimated troyer this month 29-30.

We only set 12 lanes because the archery group, with witch we share the facilities, had an open house scheduled for the afternoon. Butch was the winner, as he was last month, with 42/48. Butch shoots a Steyr. It appears that the rest of us need to get in more practice. There should be pictures attached later. Our plans for the future include clearing some more lanes for more variety. We are also working on starting extreme field target next year. Our web site is Oklahoma City Gun Club.

It was a beautiful fall day in OKC. (Come to think of it, any day you get to shoot FT is a beautiful day!) With six shooters from out of town and nine locals who attended (normally there are 20+), the match still promised to be exceptional and there was no disappointment.

It was overcast and about 51° with not even a breeze when we arrived at 8am. As the sun began to break through the clouds after practice and sight-in, the wind begin to pick up a bit. But nothing like the RoT a few weeks ago where the wind was 20+ miles an hour!

Unfortunately, there were four less lanes than normal because of a commitment by the archery club they share the lanes with, the course was well laid out. After walking past some of the lanes I saw there were a few 1” KZ out to 40 yards with some 1-1/2” sprinkled beyond but by the same token, they were some easy targets as well. Both standing and kneeling were very reasonable Troyer scale ratings but you couldn’t tell that from my score!

No cold lines were called because of faulty targets so the match finished without a hitch however,I had one and I overheard a couple of other shooter say they had a similar experience with targets that had a delayed fall. 

The 2021 FT season is now in the books with some really exciting plans for 2022 like additional lanes(?) and even an EXTREME FT schedule!

Hi Fellow AirGunners.

Our 2021 Field Target season concluded with our November match. We are closed for the winter months of December, January and February. We have come up with “Regular FT” matches that will be held from March to November. This way there will be dates so that everyone, local and out of town will be able to know about and plan for shooting them in advance.

It was a great season. As match directors, Randy and I strive to make the matches better as we go along. Bear with us!! We are learning. We have target maintenance added to our match preparations and it has helped our matches flow soo much better. We are working on the Troyer scale for next season. Looking to the future, we plan to add Extreme (Long range) Field Target to the 2022 calendar. We are always open to suggestions. We look forward to serving as match directors.
