Results Oklahoma City Gun Club's April Inaugural XFT match.

OKCGC had their inaugural Xtreme Field Target match this past Saturday April 23rd. We set out 11 “Self Resetting” targets with KZ’s sizes from ¾”-3 ½” set at 22 to 95 yards. With a Troyer of about 32 and on a very windy day. The winds were 25-37mph from the south as we shot to the north! We shot one target per lane 4 times for a 44 round match. Most shot on buckets with bipods, a few went prone, and two tried off hand. It blew you around no matter what shooting position you shot in. Made it interesting to say the least!

Tony and I were not sure how the targets would react in this type of wind. But they did very, very well; we were excited! The shooters had a blast as they have been waiting for this XFT match to take place. After the match we all went into the Silhouette range building to talk over the match. Everyone said very positive things on how the targets worked and that the match went great. After about ½ hour we all went back out to the range and picked up the targets, blocks, and signage. I want to make sure to say “Thank You Guys for the help!” We could not do this without you! Oh, and then a few hours later we had tornado warnings south of OKC. Exciting day!!

Caleb shot very well, with a score of 30. Curtis was right behind him at 29! Al a 28 with his .30 cal FX. Keith and I were right there as well, both shooting 27s. Butch was so close with his 24 and happy too! This was Thom’s second FT match and was smiling all day. Larry and Bruce were going at it with each other shooting their tied scores. Tony was having a blast as he and Joe shot off hand on one lane. Joe 2 hits and Tony with 1, both had smiles on their mugs! Joe sure has a loud gun lol.

So overall for our first XFT match with “self resetting” targets it was a success! See at our next match on July 23rd.

See Y’all soon. Randy…..

Awesome match report! Sooo great to hear. NO STRINGS ATTACHED!!

Man, I'm so sorry to have missed this! Congrats to EVERYONE!!!

When I got the email the match was cancelled, I went forward and made hotel reservations for the Arlington AAFTA match. Then, got the email the match was reinstated, I couldn't cancel the reservations because of the timing.

Oh well, maybe next time! See ya all at the XFT in Texas!!

Here's a closer pic of the front of the targets. The resetting feature is all done using smoke and mirrors, and they worked pretty darn good on such a windy day.

Here's a pic of Caleb pulling his buggy back from 'the brink'. The wind was so strong it was blowing chairs down range.

And also a pic of Bruce in the prone position with his Gauntlet topped with a Leupold scope using 33.95gr MKII JSB's. This was Bruce's first FT event and it was good shooting with him.

Thanks again to everyone that had a hand in getting things ready for this fun event. Looking forward to the next one in July.

Dave

That was my fault and I apologize for that. I watched the weather and did not want to have a bad match for you guys. But then a lot of folks were disappointed and wanted to shoot even in a 25-35 mph wind! Sure taught me a lesson about these higher powered pellet rifles and that the targets did so well in it! Will not happen again.

I like pulling to reset. kind of a reward. That is what made me refine the targets Ron now has. I also made removable reducers and made them able to be adjusted for a 20ftlb AAFTA match(yes 12ftlb@55 yds.) to 100 FTlb 22 rimfire subsonic. Complete with AR400 paddles Tig welded all the high-end fasteners. I think some of you got to see it up close and watch in shoot-off @textreme. Set up is very easy unless it is rocky. Target is mounted to a 2x12x16" board so very small footprint.
