Old posts archived

This question is prompted by “already being discussed “ suggestions that pop up when someone tries to create a new post. I recently commented in a post that resurfaced 6 years later from 2018. Now, some information remains constant, but airguns, especially pcp and night vision or thermal optics are ever evolving sections. IDK , maybe AGN adds a software program that purges threads/posts after say 3 years. I’ve personally have had members respond and ask questions to posts I’ve made years ago on a gun or scope that I’ve sold years ago. Maybe a term limit on posts, will also cut down on website storage requirements. Just my 2 cents.

I’ve seen other forums where it will specifically warn the poster that a thread is x years old and dormant and will make them acknowledge before sending it. Maybe that could be used here as well. Or maybe it already is. Don’t know, as I don’t post on very old threads. Seems to mostly be an issue with new members. Probably because they found the forum via google search for a specific problem they were having and then sign up and reply to that old thread. That’s been my working theory on it.

As a person who shoots two “old” CZ200’s, I like the ability to find information that just doesn’t come around anymore. The forum is a resource for information, it’s on the reader to conduct due diligence. Deleting valuable information is a detriment to the community.

I also have new AG’s and don’t feel they have a priority over older stuff.
