omega 18 cu ft tank with new hp3 valve issues

something weird going on i just got this new omega 18 cu ft buddy tank with the new hp3 valve.
upon the 3rd fill of my new fx m4.
i hook the hose up to the tank and then to the gun i twist the female fosters to make sure they are seated.
the gun was at 200 bar.
crack the valve on the tank very easy as i like to fill slowly,, well the fill gauge went from 100 to 200 bar in a split second i shut the valve bled off
tried again same thing as easy as i turn the valve all as I'm gently turning it jumps from 1-200 bar quicker than you can blink your eye.
i don't want to blast the air in and do damage.

weird thing if i disconnect the hose from the tank and open i can control how the air comes out
i put the fill hose on and open the valve i can control it
i put it on the gun and try ti fill i can't control it.

local shop said may be the foster on the gun ??
anyone ever heard of this.?
 
Something is not right, for sure. Valve obstruction, fitting plugged up, etc. I'd try to work from one end of the food chain to the other. If you have another PCP airgun... even an empty air tank, you can try swapping out components and testing scenarios. Eventually, you should be able to pinpoint one component which the problem. If you have a hand pump, you can try manual charge of the rifle tank and see how that responds

p.s. I have that same tank and it works well for my recreational needs as a new PCP-er. BTW, after searching for a bag/carrier for the tank for weeks, I finally settled on a 1000mm telephoto lens bag which fit the tank and valve perfectly.

Well disconnected the line from the tank
Im.able to.let air creep out with control
I attached the hose I'm able to let air creep out.
I then put a dead head on the gauge jumps to fast
Im.beginning to thunk the fluid filled gauge is NG
 
I've experienced the same issue but it only happens with one PCP. My guess is that it's not the HP3 valve at all, it's the Foster fitting on that M4. What's happening is that the M4 Foster doesn't open and the pressure quickly rises as it pressurizes the hose to 200 bar before the check valve on the M4's Foster check valve is popping open. The pressure shown on the HP3 will then not begin to rise until the M4's cylinder reaches the 200 bar in the hose.

Try the Omega tank on another PCP and see if it does the same thing. My guess is that it won't. In any case, the fact that the hose quickly pressurizes doesn't mean you will damage the M4 as the small 18cf tank you're using can't pressurize the M4's large 500cc cylinder as quickly as it pressurized the hose. I think you have an M4 foster check valve issue rather than an HP3 issue.

i tried again this morning on my gk1 and my Notos that has a 300cc bottle.
you just crack the valve ever so slightly and the liquid filled gauge pegs to tank pressure, my 98 cu in ninja i can crack the valve and allow the air to creep into the gun, in fact i bet i could fill balloons with it.
the gauge slowly rises when i use the ninja on my new m4 Notos and gk1

its acts like a bad regulator on a tig welder or oxy or setline tank
I'm sure doing that isn't good for the gun. if this is the way they operate due to the flexible fill hose i will pass
i just found a post on here from a year ago the same exact issue his gauge also pegged, and he shut it down tried to fil again same thing.
they explained about a restrictor in the din 300 fitting its a small 2.5mm Allen and to remove it due to improper pressure changes it causes with the hose.

@88trubocoupe, I reread your initial post and what you describe is how the tank and gauges are supposed to work. It takes no time at all for the gauge to jump up to 200 bar because the microbore hose has very little volume to pressurize. The foster check valve on the M4 slows the tank gauge down once it reaches the fill pressure remaining in the rifle. For example, if you rifle was holding 100 bar of air in the tank, and you open the HP3, the microbore hose quickly fills until it slows at the 100 bar pressure it takes to open the M4 check valve. Then it will slow down and fill the 500cc M4 tank. The smaller the cylinder on the air rifle, the faster the pressure will increase after it opens the check valve because it is filling a smaller volume cylinder which takes less time. You would have an issue if once the check valve was opened the air gun gauge moved as quickly as the HP3 gauge did when it was only filling the hose. There is nothing amiss from what you are describing.

ok now i see that restrictor i also removed it with a small allen wrench now i can make the gauge creep
thank you for that i just didnt want to ruin a new 2k rifle .

88turbocoupe, are you still experiencing issues being able to fill your rifle? What is happening?
My rifle is fine my new hatsan pistol got a surge from this omega hp3 valve
And blew 2 seals new England airgun refuses to refund my money and give me a gift card to a store I will never step foot again.
For a week old tank also wants to charge 20% Restock fee and 5% credit card charge back but as classy as John is I used debit
So now I'm dragging them to court as his own employee
Tried to fill a gun with this tank and it pegged 250 bar as soo. As he cracked the tank valve hp3 and said its not supposed to do that
Then my 700mm barrel he didn't stock cant get nor give me a delivery date of when available so I said fine refundt so court it is
Same John says it won't hurt the gun to quick fill really give me that scout
Well can charge that and pop the reg and o rings.
