Hi guys/gals. I didn't see a thread about an Omega Air Charger compressor, so I figured I'd start one.
My original 4500 psi compressor, a Shoebox that I bought back in 2012, sprung a irreparable leak on me, so, I went looking for another 4500 HPA compressor. While It gave me no trouble, didn't really want another Shoebox compressor, because I didn't really care for the second "pusher" compressor it required.
Well, after looking at quite a HPA compressors, I had almost settled on an Omega Super Charger. I watched several YouTube videos about the Super Charger and was set to buy one, and then when I saw some videos made by SothernGunner about another kind of Omega 4500 compressor. It was called the Omega Air Charger - it's a lot like the Super Charger, but it is not inclosed and without some of extras that I can live without. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't just settling, the Air Charger is a quality compressor.
It arrived yesterday and it man, weighs a TON! I'm in a wheelchair and it was all I could handle. I set it on a Black and Decker Work Mate bench in my garage and I was in business. Set-up was pretty straight forward and in just a little while I was ready to put air into my 66 cu. ft. carbon fiber tank (got a while ago from Joe Brancato of airtanksforsale.com.
I followed the directions, attached all my HPA hoses between it and my CF tank and was ready to go. It is water-cooled and when I plugged in the power cord, the water pump started running (like it should have) and a little fan started blowing. After making sure all was set, I pushed the green button and the compressor came on. Man, is it ever quiet - I was amazed that I wasn't nearly as noisy as my regular old pancake shop air compressor.
The one thing I wish it had was an hour meter, so I improvised and it ran for about 2 hours straight (manual reads to not run it for 8 hours straight). During those couple of hours I watched it perform. About every 15 minutes I opened and little valve and let it blow moisture out. I've got an HPA water filter that I'm gonna use in the future. As for the hour meter, I went online and bought one. I'm gonna wire it in and just remember it is 2 hours short on time.
Well, all went just fine. in those two hours It took my 66 cu. ft. tank from around 2800 up to 4500 psi (several times I stopped it and started it, just kinda playing around). The Omega has a cut-off switch that I had set to 4500 and it cut off perfectly.
Well, that's it for now. Just thought I'd check in and tell you all about my new 4500 psi Omega Air Charger compressor.
All the Best,
Bobby
