One more and it’s sweet. Walther LGR

You can see just how serious the manufacturers were about Olympic competition when you look at these beautiful old match rifles.
That’s the period I love. Still blued steel and walnut before they started looking like transformers!
Fantastic rifle and fantastic scope.
Now you have a serious piece of airgun history Crow. You need to put a hint as to what you have in the topic. I nearly missed it. Bet your glad you followed up on that one!
Good for you 👍

As to the barrel weights

The short one is the standard Walther muzzle weight, which looks like the standard Walther 10M barrel weight sans the front sight provision.
The longer one goes on the barrel in place of the standard Walther weight, and affords you the opportunity to adjust how the rifle hangs and swings in position by adjusting the sliding weight fore and aft.

Very nice rifle, and in a configuration not often seen.
Congratulations on acquiring it!

This rifle has a Leupold 4x scope modified by Premier Reticle for RT use. The story behind this scope (unconfirmed unfortunately) is that after completing the modifications, Premier Reticle said, "never again" - referencing the very difficult build process.

in bare feet and crushed glass .

What a great looking rifle/scope combo. I want to hear all the specs on this combo you can give including chrono readings if you can.
It looks as though it might be a real tack driver. ;)
I don’t think it will shoot over 600 fps. I will crony it. Crow

Ya, I was mindless there for awhile when I first got it. Didn’t even mention the make.
You’re right, I have dozens of rifles, nothing like this, this Beauty is special.
The only thing I could have done better was the camp out and wait for them to open. Thanks. Crow

Thanks so much for clarifying the weights. I figured but wasn’t sure. The muzzle weight looks home made compared to rest of the rifle. Again thanks Crow
That is a sweet find! Congratulations! All the bits and bobs included puts the cherry on top.
Lot of goodies in box. Even got a tube of Feinwerkbau grease. Thanks Crow
That scope have more knobs than a knob factory.
You might need a University degree to operate it. Crow
I would have made that drive any weather just for the scope .
You and I think alike. I drove home from Chicago in the Blizzard of 95, normally a 10 1/2 hour drive took 17 hours. Nothing scares me behind the wheel now.
I’m going to have a closer look at it today. Could probably do a weekend conference on the scope. Crow
Here is a good thread on the different variations of the LGR. It evens talks about that leupold scope modified by premier reticle.
Thanks for info, appreciated. Crow

I am pretty sure that the sliding weight unit is not a standard item on the LGR Running Target model, but I can not say that with certainty. It may be an aftermarket barrel tuner for a rimfire, or it may be a bloop tube? Does it have a sight dovetail on one end?
The smaller weight looks Walther, but if shorter than most that I have seen pictured. It may be a cut down 10M weight, which would account for the grub screw hole being so near the end.

The guy to ask would be Tom Strayhorn, he is very well versed in old Walthers. Short of that, Mike Driskill is a sharp cookie, and if nothing else, I guarantee that he knows how to get in touch with Tom.
DualMagMike, wijib, Specie and the other usual suspects, should be along before too long and may have some input as to origins of the various bits as well.

VERY VERY NICE rifle !

Did you get any history on the gun? That would be nice to have.
All I was told the piston seal was changed last year and the owner was meticulous. The seller was a customer of mine for 30 years, I know him well. That’s a good stinking diarrhoea. I’ll see if I can find some history. Just cleaned it rubbed the stock. Very unique.
I'm speechless and all weak in the knees! That's a wall hanger for sure. Congrats!!!!
Chris you don’t have to say anything, I hear you. And I didn’t take the knee braces off yet. Shadow box maybe. Thanks Crow

The sliding weigh looks home made or modified. It looks aftermarket, no blueing.

Your right, it’s been cut.

‘Thanks for input. Honestly this is all new to me. But so interesting. Crow

Yes, that small weight is a cut down Walther weight. The dull phosphate finish is appropriate for that piece. Probably made from a standard LGR barrel weight.
The correct Walther RT barrel weight is more than twice that in length and has no relief cut milled in it for the front sight. Judging from pictures, they may have been finished a bit better than the standard 10M barrel weight as well.

The long tube is a puzzler.
No dovetails cut, so it is not a bloop tube, which leaves us at supposing it is a tuner of unknown make.

Something similar-

Scroll down to the Tuner Tube and compare.
Since no dovetails are present, it may be a model that is to be drilled and tapped for a Redfield or Lyman sight base.

It's a poetic-license variation of a (probably-Texan) saying, "That thang does everthang but cook biscuits".
No biscuits up here.
Hilarious. My wife has a toilet with a bidet and remote controlled. Doesn’t matter how bad a day you’re having, when you get off it, you‘ll be wearing a big smile. I told her many times she’s lucky it can’t cook. Crow
I have seen a lot of scopes in my time Never seen one like that
O Crow don't forget me in your will LOL
When I first saw it I said start the car. My will yes—-
‘When I die I wanna die like my grandfather——In his sleep.
