Hatsan One Week with the Hatsan Velox .22

View attachment 480932
I have used my Hatsan Velox for a week now and have the following impression: Summarized, it is a good buy for what is can do. I have put around 1000 CPHPs downrange without one malfunction. This includes at least 200 pellets fired as fast as I could pull the trigger. I put a Donny FL Tanto on it and that reduced the bark enough to make it very backyard friendly. The Tanto in the tube fits nicely in the pistols case. Filling it to 250 bar with an accurate gauge will render 24 shots, albeit the velocity reduces about 6 to ten fps per shot. FX Pocket Crony for 24 shots is below:

Airgun Pistol
CPHP 14.33gr
Shot count: 24

Low: 493 FPS
Hi: 624 FPS
Avg: 567 FPS
Spread: 131 FPS
STD Dev: 40.0 FPS

What it is: Inexpensive, Accurate, Well Balanced, Well Made, Decent Trigger Pull, Great Plinker.
What it is not: A Huben G1 (but it did not cost $1200), Dime sized group at 10 yards, 30 ftlbs power.

If you are looking for an inexpensive PCP air pistol to shoot cans, army men, rocks, pine cones, leaves floating on the water, and varmints at 10 to 20 yards; it is a great choice. I shoot one mag and refill. That gives me consistent accuracy, muzzle velocity, and power. For a long shooting session, I tether it to my tank and set the regulator on the tank to 200 bar. I have only used the iron sights and have been able to consistently produce half dollar 12 round groups at 10 yards. I am sure the groups would tighten with a scope or red dot, but a half dollar with iron sights is about as good as these old eyes will do.
Did you find any particular brnd/type of pellets worked best (cycling properly)?

If you mean in conjunction on the gun; no.
If you mean to fill off the gun; yes. There’s a guy on eBay selling a fill adapter.
I bought the one on ebay to have two tanks filled, only problem is it takes 10 minutes to unthread/re-thread the tanks. I saw a picture on youtube where I guy had an adapter and BOTH tanks feeding the velox at once. I wrote in the comments "where can I get one" and there was never a reply.

I need/want this too!!

Hello from Germany,
I have a Velox in Cal .22.
I have an important question about it.
If I load the magazine with 12 shots but only fire 8 shots, then the gun is pre-cocked. It is only after the 12th shot that it is no longer pre-cocked. What can I do to relax it so that the mainspring is not constantly under tension?

I hope I was able to explain that well enough.

Is there a way to do that?

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards
Dirk

Gutentag Dirk.

I shoot the magazine empty, then I remove the magazine, hold the probe by hand, pull the trigger and geantly release the hammer spring.

Now you can put the pistol away uncocked.

It is really stupid that Hatsan do not mentioning this.

Thank you very much Keesbo, its nice to read guten tag ;)

Maybe my Google translation is wrong, but I didn't quite understand. Could you explain it differently or with pictures? What is a probe? Pellet pusher?

I can't just remove the magazine when it's empty without pulling the cocking lever back, can I?
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but Hatsan should definitely write that in the manual.

UPDATE
I have a big problem now. I wanted to unscrew the air cartridge, all the pressure escaped. When I want to fill it with the compressor, air comes out of the barrel and no pressure builds up. I've only had the Velox for a short time and it's already broken. Can i repair something like this without a lot of technical skill?

Best regards
Dirk

Hallo

hello keesbo,

First of all, thank you very much.

I have a bottle but no pressure builds up.
Did you know a video or anything else, to see how i can fix the problem.
It is safe only an O-Ring.
Otherwise I have to send the Velox to Shogun.

hatsan says yes, you can unscrew the cartridge with pressure.

The whole thing is very stupid.

I can speak some English, but I prefer to use the translator.
you are welcome to write in English.😀
Your German is definitely much better than my Dutch🤣

I'll try to repeat it again, but I don't really understand what you wrote.

When the magazine is empty, I pull the cocking lever back, remove the magazine,
that is clear.

then I should hold the pellet pusher.

Then I should move the cocking lever backwards with a strong jerk. But the cocking lever is already at the back because I removed the magazine.

I don't really understand, I don't want to bother you.😉

I had done it like this until now, emptying the magazine, but leaving the magazine in the weapon, then pulling the trigger.

But this is wrong because the cocking lever is still in the rear position and not in the front position.

I don't think I should have gotten that gun. I can't get a Picatinny mount installed, 11mm is ok, but it is not a good quality.
The gun was scratched, but this is no problem, but it is sign for no good quality control from hatsan.
It's just not a 1600 euro GK1 that I would really like to get.

I'm sorry for the trouble I'm causing you, but it's important that the Velox doesn't lie around stretched out all the time.

greetings to Holland

Hi

Wenn you take out the magazine, hold the cocking handle/pellet pusher back and pull the trigger. You can take the cocking handle foreward and release the spring.
The cocking handle is then in the foreward position and there is no hammer spring tension left.

Do not know how to explain otherwise.

If you want to fill the gun, put the cocking handle in the back and lock it.
Then full airpressure to fill it to close the valve.

If that do not work, I am afraid you must send it back.

A Hatsan is a poorly disigned airgun. You must have some technical scills to own them. ;)

But a Dutch Velox? Do you have a Waffenschein?

Ok, now i have understand it, i have tested it on dry mode, without air.
It is so easy once when you understand it.
Thanks a lot.
There is no privat conversation mode in this forum?

If you want to fill the gun, put the cocking handle in the back and lock it.
Then full airpressure to fill it to close the valve.
It still not build pressure on the Air Cylinder.

A friend of mine, he registered it, but I paid for it because I wanted to have one, but I don't have a certificate and I take care of problems like this. But my friend owns it.

i really want to get a velox, seems like they had a lot of issues with burst fire when they first came out, any know if the more recent ones are having issues, and how loud are they my notos is pretty quiet, wondering in comparison i know it needs a moderator
With a mod they are every bit as quiet as the stock notos except the action is louder because of the semi-auto function. I got my Velox from the second batch at pyramid air and had no issues with cycling. Good luck.
