Only get to shoot ONE airgun today

How far do you shoot your 30? Is it pretty accurate with slugs at 100?

Admittedly, it's a hunt to find the one (slug) that works with your setup and tune. I would say, "yupper, it's great at 100y, 150y and 200y" but I have not had enough calm wind days to substantiate my groups so, no, it's not 1 MOA at 100y 100% of the time.

I've gotten several MOA groups at 100y but until it's 100% repeatable with calm air, I'll just say its 1 MOA capable. I have a handful of 150y groups that were 1 MOA as well and I can drop slugs on the 200y steel but I can't tell you what group size that is as I just haven't cared.

I've been trying to decide between the .22 and .30 maverick sniper with slugs. Been watching videos and reading on the forums everything I can find. Have you tried the Patriot Javelin Gen 2 slugs?

The .30 costs me X4 the .22 to shoot pellets and X2 to shoot slugs.

The .22 was easy to tune and it loves just about any pellet and many slugs but the .30 has been very picky.

Yes, I got a container of the PJ2 slugs and they shot well but my price per shot was nearly $0.50 a shot. I can run PB for that price.

I put the some numbers into a ballistics app and the .22 slugs BC seems to be on par or better than the .25 and .30 slugs.

We hear lots of folks say - "if i could only keep one airgun it would be"

But since it is January 1 2024 i thought i would ask this question a different way:

If you could only shoot one air gun in 2024, which airgun would you choose?

Happy New Year to all you AirHeads.
Great question, but trying to come up with an answer is much too tough for me! What an awful thought. ;-) If I was being ruthlessly objective, I'd have maybe four of my very best air rifles from which to choose the ONE, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Seriously, it would require a lot of effort to make that kind of determination, as my favorite airguns are favorites first and foremost because of how accurately I can shoot with them, but they're also favorites based on the situation for which they'd be the best choice (target shooting, eliminating pests, procuring meat, etcetera), and I'm probably missing other critically important criteria as well. Whoa! I'm sorry, but I just can't make myself do it. :)

Too many to pick from, just not happening.
Small list, but not all, of what I have to play with:

- Beeman R9 .20
- Beeman R8 .177 1983 San Rafael
- Beeman R7 .20 Huntington Beach, anniversary present from my girlfriend
- Beeman R7 .177
- Weihrauch HW95 .22
- Diana D34K Premium .20
- Diana D34 .177
- 73 Silver Streak
I hear you! I just can't force myself to be that ruthless. ;-)
