Open sight option for HW77 K

If you are looking for a nice sight for your Weihrauch take a look at the Williams FP-AG-TK, it sits a little higher than the stock iron sight so it may be just what you are looking for. I just installed one on my HW30S and while researching aftermarket iron sights I thought I saw a user who had posted a pic of his HW77 with the Williams sight on it. If you try a search in this forum you may just find it; I'll look myself and see if I can find that thread. The Williams is not the only option available, this thread...

...Has some good pics of another option called the 'Tech' sight, looks pretty good. (y)

EDIT: Found it:

post #7, not sure if that rifle is a 77 or 97, but take a look.

That is the problem of the new stock on the 77. It is made for a scope.
Best thing too do is try too buy an old HW77 with the classic stock.
That one is absolutly great for the open sights.
Same problem with all the HW95L stocks. The comb is too high for even the original sights that come with the gun unless you really pull the stock into your cheek and that’s no way to shoot a springer anyway

I have no problem with it . I shoot the stock irons 98.786% of the time . 10m to 100y. Everyday ( weather permitting)

I’m not the only one who calls the HW95L comb too high for its own sights.
And I no way have a chubby face or protruding cheek bone. I’m lean and mean. Actually lean and nice.
Attended an FT match. A fellow had a current HW 95L with a Williams sight and none of the guys that handled it liked the setup. We were shooting it after the match. The owner said he’s going to take it off. Comb too high.
If you want iron sights on an HW95 go with the Standard stock unless you have a flat face with no cheek bone.
My older style HW95L and R9D are the same situation.
I don’t know how the member “Formerly known as Mo Ron” likes his.
I CAN shoot them if I really push my cheek into the comb but as we know that’s not necessarily so good for accuracy.

Thanks for the info! I’ve come across the Williams and Tech peep sights, I think I’ll give one of them a try. Or I’m considering modifying the stock.

Remember what I said earlier. Changing the rear sight will not change your sightline or the fit of your stock.

The front sight height determines the sightline. I don't want you to waste your money on different rear sights to improve stock fit.

Most sights are matched ( front and rear) to what mycap day's

If you just go shoot it as is you will grow accustom to the stock comb and little to do in comfort. Was my hw comfortable at first ,no not really bd others, but now it's nothing but a thing i dont even think about or feel anymore . Just shoulder it and shoot. No issue.

I assume modify the stock mrans cutting the original one or somthing you cant reverse? Thats fine bit the guns value will just be a fraction or what all untutched original would be , basically a damaged gun and them replacement stockd aint cheap if you even find one ..

I guess you got to do as you feels best for you..

A belt sander to the stock comb works BUT you'll never match the finish on a Beech stock.

Laminate is easy. The color is dyed through all the layers of the laminate. All you gotta do to match the color is apply a clear lacquer to the sanded down comb.

Edit: A hack on the beech stock might be sand the comb down and neatly mask off the area and paint it with textured black paint. A deliberate color difference might look better than a poorly matched stain.
