Glenroiland,
If you bench your gun with bags or some way to keep the gun from moving sighting at a vertical line or edge, such as a box or beer can at say 15 yds. Move your head side to side while looking through the scope. The amount the windage line moves from one side to the other of your target line is the amount the parallax error could cause you to miss the intended target. Same goes for horizontal. If your eye is perfectly centered in the scope there is no problem but if you are not centered exactly you will be off target by the amount you are off center. So if you have a good cheek weld and are well in line with your scope not much difference. Also the closer you get to 50 yds. the lower the amount of parallax error in your case.
On the other hand, adjusting the objective, let’s say 10, 15, 20 yds etc. for close in shooting puts the target in clearer focus than you get with a 50 yd setting. You can use the AO to get range estimates. When you are in focus at your target the parallax error is at a minimum.
You could witness the ranges on the scope objective to known distances and then just use the AO to range your shots.
Hope that helps.
