Optic for shotgun

Is there a prismatic or red dot that anyone finds useful on an air shotgun? I don't see adoption of optical sights in skeet, trap or sporting clays so I should probably just shoot enough to get good with the bead sight.

It might be nice to have the sight system set up for deer as well as birds. Deer hunting with an airgun pretty much demands a sight more precise than just a front bead because of the use of a slug projectile.

A red dot on a shotgun can easily be pointed or aimed depending on discipline and desired results. I recommend a pistol style, open emitter dot or dot-circle combo, mounted as low and far forward as possible for fast target acquisition. My hit percentage is not significantly changed for better or worse with clays, but I have a friend who DOES NOT MISS a clay with his dot. It’s remarkable to watch. I have however experienced a major reduction in group size with slugs on paper out of my setup. Actually pretty surprising how accurate the platform can be.

There are some pistol dots (holosun for sure, other brands might also) that give you a circle with a dot inside, but also let you just use the circle. Some with just a slightly smaller circle. I always thought these would be good for shotgun pattern, but my astigmatism makes the circles mostly unusable

I don't own an air shotgun, but I have 1 of these on my R870 HD....
