optics planet/USPS

First off this subject should probably be placed in dealer feedback section?

I purchased a scope from Optics Planet on the 7th of July and confirmation of shipment the same day, On to Tracking of package it was shipped Via USPS, this package (scope) has set in their "USPS" facilities in chicago since the 9th of july? with a tracking explanation of -shipment received, package acceptance pending-? how long does it take to scan, x-ray, a sniff from explosive detection dog! and four workers to drop, kick, throw my scope into a truck or plane?

It's pretty sad when UPS is the preferred shipper over the USPS!

Seriously, No disrespect to Postal workers I know most of you have no connection to my issue or role in 99% of USPS deficiencies!

want to add, I emailed a claim 4 days ago, no reply yet!

Aloha nomojo,

I had the same problem your having. Did you use the “value shipping” option which for me was free shipping to Hawaii. It took 9 weeks for my AR grip and Holosun 510c to get to me. When I was tracking the status of the shipment it showed “package received pending acceptance” when I called optics planet they said that USPS has it and can’t do anything. When I called my local USPS they told me that because optics planet shipped it the cheapest way, the package sits until the container if filled then moves to the destination. I was really disappointed in optics planet.

Aloha, Keone

I just had something shipped to my I bought in the classifieds, and although the gentleman was fast to ship, usps PRIORITY took 2 weeks for me to get. The whole time tracking stated it haven’t moved. I was about to start a claim, then one day, it’s sitting on my doorstep. Funny enough, if I track it, it’s STILL in their sorting center

Plus one on that! Plenty of good internet vendors out there besides Optics Planet. My personal favs are SWFA and Midway. Never an issue with shipping from those guys.

I have to agree especially on Midway! Never had a problem with them and shipping. I will also say, lots of people dump on the USPS, but in my experience they are just as good, and sometimes better, than UPS and Fed Ex. I think a lot depends on where you are in the country, and even more depends on the price and method chosen by the shipper. If you get free shipping, then its up to the shipper how it comes to you. As Kaeokini said above, if they wait until a container, or a truck is full before shipping to you, that’s not USPS’s fault, its with the shipper.

I've ordered from Optics Planet numerous times..just not things that don't say "in stock".

Only had 1 order disappear..it was shipped USPS..the tracking showed it sitting in a "sorting location" but not moving for 2 weeks. Optics Planet said they had to wait 14 days for USPS to try and track/find it. They never found the package and gave me a full refund.

I think Optics Planet would have fewer packages "go missing" if they didn't print "Optics Planet" all over their boxes..you might as well just print "Steal Me!" on the box.

*I will never buy anything from Optics Planet, No matter how good the deal is , They screwed me so many times the lasttime was over a night site took me 6 months to get my money back,,,Keep dealing with them and you will see,,,,

Optics Planet is a sham operation. They rarely have inventory for the majority or what they sell as a middleman and they like to play shipping status games with customers until they can source the inventory.

ive had both good and bad happen with USPS on the same box shipped on weds from MA to MI ,arrived yesterday,That"s good the bad is used a small box and the teller didnt like the metal tape i used ,told me to bring home and repack even though i broke no rule after 10 minutes of back and forth i requested a manager ,who right away said no rule has been broken ,even took my box and put in a flat rate envelope,,the box inside the envelope cost me less money than just the box

Finally received a return email from USPS, with explanation of waiting 10-14 days ( it’s already been 10 days! ) before filing a claim but what’s interesting is the local postmaster also attached to that email is his contact information!

I’ll feel it’s optics planets responsibility to deal with this situation! And will still proceed in this direction. They have my $$$ and can send me another scope “UPS” while they figure out what happened to the first scope they tried to send!!!.
