AGN friends -

Opticsplanet.com is selling your information to “partners”. At a minimum, your contact information - and likely your spending habits to other companies.

This will continue until complaints amass, and it costs them customers. I have put them on notice that my information is not for sale, and that any further abuse will cost them a lifetime of my business.

How do I know?

I use a unique email address for every account I create so I can track this type of harassment. The email address I have registered with opticsplanet has been shared and I’m now receiving spam from other vendors.

Mike, I’ve been aware for two decades now this is a practice of many companies.

I choose not to do business with any of them.

Some folks are not aware, hence my post.

Sorry if I offended you.

To answer your question, I do not use Google. I use a self-hosted template that shares zero information with Google when I search.

I used to create one time emails to avoid that, back when creating a new email was easier. Now, I get more spam delivered than a Hawaiian restaurant. The challenge is knowing which vendors to spam list so you don't miss sales.

I think everybody is selling your private information, there is no really any way around it, unfortunately. I mean you can, but ultimately you are tracked in every step when you go online. We are the product for sale nowadays, sigh. Most likely there is something in terms and conditions on OpticsPlanet when you sign up for a new account that allows them to do it legally.
