looking at getting an Optisan Optics CP 4-16x40 FFP F1MRAD16 as my first scope for HFT. I've seen a lot of info on the 3-12x32 and it gets great reviews. Figured since 16x was the limit, I should get a 16X.
Any input?

Well said ... and YES, some of us have upgraded or replaced worn out or dated optics on our HFT rigs. The ATHLON HERAS SPR 6-24x56 is a really fine optic for the HFT game !!Hi,
Just my 2 cents, but I think you will be disappointed with a 16x scope. Not sure where you will be shooting HFT but my experience (as a relatively newbie compared to many on this forum) that many matches are shot in heavily treed areas - meaning lots of dark shadows. Most scopes tend to get darker as you approach the upper end of their magnification range. The other thing is that being able to range targets is important in HFT. For that a small depth-of-field helps. Depth of field gets smaller with larger objective lenses and longer focal lengths. This is why you see many of the really good shooters with Sightron SIII's. But a good 6-24x56 will get you a long way without breaking the bank. Phillip Hepler (Deadeye) just did a review here on AGN of a really nice scope of that size.
Cheers,
Greg
