Air Venturi Ordered an Avenge X

I've always thought the PCP guns were cool, but I never dove in because of the high initial cost. A compressor, air dryer, a chrono if you really want to tune them....
But today I finally but the bullet. I ordered an Avenge X in .22 cal. from Pyramid Air. The shipping options were kinda funny I could get it in 3 days, and had the choice of free shipping, or paying $17.00 or $30.00 to get it the same day. It was a tough choice, but I went with the free one. :) Hope I made the right decision.
This will be my first airgun in anything other than .177. I agonized over which caliber to get, way more than I should have, especially because it can be changed pretty economically. I'm looking forward to learning lots of new things. The Search function here has lead to a lot of reading. I'm sure I've got a bunch more to go.

I think that you made a wise choice for your entry in the PCP world. While I don’t own one myself I have been helping my nephew research a new rifle. We have really focused in on the Avenge X series and I think they offer a terrific air rifle system. I also believe that you made a great choice in caliber. Lots of pellet options and plenty of pellet weight and power for most all small game hunting or “knocking over” of distant steel targets (my favorite).

Avenge-X is solid "starter" PCP choice. Avenger was always right up there, Avenge-X addressed concerns that forced owners to pricey aftermarket to correct. IMO, only "lookers" are the wood stock traditionals, tactical reminds me of a big fish eating a squid. Functionally, for that price point, hard to beat. WM

I'm glad for the consensus on it being a good, first PCP gun. That's what I was aiming for. I've got a decent springer, a Diana 48. I do like how hard it hits and use it for squirrels in the front yard. I don't like how much point of impact changes depending on how you hold it, and it was hard to switch from bench mode to hunting mode and hit anything. At least for me. I also learned how hard it is on scopes not made for springers (something I'd never heard if until I got that gun). I shoot it open sights now and that's it.
This new gun should be fun, and I'll learn if i want to dive further down the rabbit hole without spending a fortune.

Hopefully the medium rings will give you enough clearance to use the high capacity mag. They may not but the good news is that UTG rings are cheap 👍
Good call on this. I got my gun on Wednesday and the compressor today. Mounted the scope with the medium rings and you are right. I can't use the larger mag. It hits the scope. I doubt I'll go to high rings just to fix this, but if I end up changing my setup in the future I'll opt for the higher rings.
Thanks for looking out for me though!

congratulations! The biggest thing I don't love about my original Avenger is just the length. It has a ton of features for the price and is easier to tune than my favorite guns. I think most airguns, at least at the under $500 price point I have stayed in so far, are sized for 22 caliber. You can get a 177 or a 25, at least, but the passages through the gun are really too big for 177 and too small for 25. But they are just right for a 22.
