Original Benjamin Trail NP .22

I just got an original Benjamin Trail NP (not XL) for $50 on the classifieds. Threw a 3-9x40 BSP outlook on it and started Benjamin Discover .22 hollow points through it and I’m so surprised by how well it shoots. Yes it’s heavy…but…it’s also really quiet so perfect for the backyard and it’s shockingly accurate. I get dime sized groups without even trying from 10 to 25 yards and every yardage in between. I’m going to try it out in the 25-50 yard range soon but honestly most of my shooting will be 25 yard max. Seems to pack a pretty good punch too. For $50 I honestly couldn’t be more happy with the purchase, it’s perfect for my 11 year olds first “real” air rifle and he’s in love with it.

Decent price, they go for lots more new. Bought same, in XL, from neighbor, few years back, he didn't like it. The XL nitro piston is 27mm, non-XL is 25mm, non-XL is better choice. Mine came from factory with Crosman's brand scope. CenterPoint, 3-9x40AO. Think first three digits of serial number is manufacture date, mine, 718, makes sense for July 2018. Had to use cantilever scope mount (picture) since didn't want to trim stock for proper scope eye relief. Terrible triggers but easy modifications can be found on YouTube, sounds like yours has already been done. Hope you continue to enjoy, feel free to ask questions. WM

I own a Benjamin Titan model, which appears ... and very likely is identical minus the picatinny scope mount. My rifle has performed well for me also at back yard distances' with Crosman Premier ammo which again is likely to be the same as the (possibly a bit cleaner) Benjamin Discover ammo you spoke of.
What I've experienced is that if swapping between more expensive ammo made of softer lead and the Benjamin/Crosman stuff.... you may become frustrated with non-accuracy of the higher end stuff! Seems once your barrel is seasoned-fouled with the harder lead and you're happy with its' accuracy....save your $ and stick with it.
I've found by using digital calipers, the head sizes of CP ammo can be "all over the place".... and have also found that the best accuracy from my two NP rifles comes with larger head sizes.
Good luck with a "Great" first rifle for your 11 year old.
