OT: Suez Canal Blocked by Grounded Container Ship

Gentlemen;

Honestly, one thing does not need to be connected to the other for events to be exploited. "It is universally true that ALL nations operate in their own enlightened self-interest ALL the time." There is no such thing as an altruistic nation.

Now then, like I said before "EVERGREEN" DOES NOT EQUAL "EVER GIVEN"... it ain't even close enough to call it a coincidence AND HR3C DOES NOT EQUAL HRC it ain't even close enough for a rational man to equate it ...

Look China does not want their economy impacted either. China uses the Suez Canal to move more stuff than the US does, simply because we don't need to use the canal to get stuff to and from the EU. They do. We use the Panama Canal to move goods west across the Pacific to get to Asia. Those two facts mean that we are less impacted then any nation by the canal being blocked ... EXCEPT for OIL... Saudi needs to move oil through the canal. Now since we are no longer looking at building out the Keystone this WILL impact fuel prices. Russia and Iran have been trying to put a pipe line across northern Iraq and Syria for a dozen years now and THAT (not ISIS, ISIS was the excuse) is why we invaded northern Syria. This will cause a push by the EU against our policy in Northern Iraq and Syria because their oil is going to go up and that pipe line would be a godsend for them. That's how this hurts the US, but China gets hurt too. Russia and Iran are the winners in this incident.

But gentlemen this nation is 27 TRILLION dollars in debit, gasoline prices are the least of our worries economically. That $27T represents $81,000.00 of debit per person, not tax payer, per person. We will be printing that money to pay off that debit over the next several years. That means the value of the dollar will go down. The value of goods will not... so get ready to tighten your purse strings.

But please ... conspiracy theories just lead to politics and politics will get this thread killed.

Truck in China carrying an Evergreen container causing major traffic jam

Syria has started rationing fuel as suez canal blockage stops Iranian tankers reaching the country (Syria)

I don't see how this helps either of those two nations.

EDIT, IN THE SHORT TERM.

China has been playing the long game since before Kissinger and Nixon though embracing them was a good ploy against Soviet hegemony. It was at the time, of course, not so much now. The problem with brilliant political stratagems is only brilliant people understand when they are no longer brilliant. That pendulum has swung and the ruling class has not figured that out.

There's something poetic about that one. I like it. Cleaned up in two hours and everyone was on their merry way... and utterly irrelevant but fun for sure.

The average container ship carries between eight and ten thousand containers. Evergreen owns 110 ships, charters 87 ships and has another seventy something on contracts. So just owned and chartered Evergreen is hauling something like sixteen hundred thousand containers on any given day. That's one point six million containers. They probably actually own three times that many containers. The probability that any random tractor trailer blocking a highway (particularly in China) might have "Evergreen" written on the side is probably higher than me shooting a half inch group at 50 yards on the same day with my spring rifle?

Perhaps.

The Evergreen’s fleet comprises less than 0.1% of China’s cargo vessels.
A truck transporting an Evergreen shipping container causing a jam a few days after the cargo ship, in an inland province that sees less shipping containers than Beijing. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence.

What’s irrelevant are the consequences of the traffic jam the truck caused

Perhaps you can source your assertion, highlighted above? The very idea that could be true would mean that CCP would have about 200k cargo ships, it you run the numbers.

First realize that point one percent is one one thousandth of a number. One percent being one one hundredth of said number ... it follows...

(1.0 / 0.001)*200 ships = 1000*200 = 200k but that absurd assertion is irrelevant ...

You see ...

The Evergreen fleet actually comprises 0.0000% of China's cargo vessels.

Evergreen Marine is a Taiwanese owned company. The picture you linked would have to show a Taiwanese company's container blocking a CCP highway. That's unlikely at best. Possible but unlikely. The picture was probably taken in Taiwan. So I guess there's a lesson for both of us. The vessel stuck in the Suez Canal is Taiwanese OWNED and Panama flagged. But we are going to put this one on CCP? Sounds like a "Q" theory to me for sure. I can find plenty of reasons to hate the Chinese government without MAKING THEM UP out of whole cloth and foisting them off on those who are too lazy or too ignorant to actually do the research to verify them.

No intent to offend by the way... The reference was to people victimized by "fake news" AKA "propaganda" ...

+1

It's a Taiwan-based, Japanese-owned ship.

Yes and PANAMA flagged... The track is cute. Link me the source for it so that I have some provenance and I'll accept it, otherwise I call it possible and about as likely as any tired pilot or first mate might be to draw something like that while killing time in the middle of the ocean. However I think I get your intention, which is also cute but not terribly original.

From Wikipedia and since you drew me a picture I will draw one for you...

<sarcasm>

We all know wikipedia to be a world recognized authority on truth, right?

</sarcasm>

Ever Given is a Golden-class container ship, one of the largest container ships in the world. The ship is owned by Shoei Kisen Kaisha (a shipowning and leasing subsidiary of the large Japanese shipbuilding company Imabari Shipbuilding), and time chartered and operated by container transportation and shipping company Evergreen Marine. Ever Given is registered in Panama

What country the company is purported to be based in doesn’t matter. It’s not that hard for someone in another country to make a company in another country. The shipping container was on a truck in Nanjing, China. If you did a quick google search you would see that. I don’t take anything on the internet, tv, or other sources of information as 100% truth. It’s all taken with a grain of salt, mere entertainment. Kind of like some guy trying to play retired “intel operative” on an airgun forum.

Oh my, ouchie! You know what they say there hero? "If ya done it, it ain't braggin'"

But we have been dancing around this Q thing during the whole thread so we might as well just really get down with it... So...

Here you want a "Red Pill", do ya? Ok, the owner of the web server can set the system clock forward or backwards whenever he wants. That means he can make a drop look like it was made a few minutes ago or a few minutes from now... Take your damn "Red Pill". Q lied to you.
