Dang I can;t beleive this thread is over 2yrs old now! Anyways the rules are the ed canoles 100shot target, at 25 yard if you have it. One shot per bull and most importantly, have fun.
No problem Cobalt , I wish your question would be enough to bring Mike Manabe back to the forum. Haven't heard from him in close to a year? Can't get him to answer my emails, so if anyone knows what's going on with Mike, please let us know. He's such a great airgunner and has helped me and others a lot in our learning experience over the years.
Here's Mike's post that got me started with this post.
So we don't have really strict rules for this challenge. I see the link for Mike's 120 shot target from Phoenix Benchrest targets doesn't work any more? You can send me a private message with your email and I'll be glad to send you some PDF files of some great targets to use.
Also you can print some pretty nice targets from our Tarheel Airgun site
He was shooting at 13 meters indoors because that's all the room he had in his apartment. So I converted it to 14 yds and tried that outside on many different occasions for my challenge. We also shot the challenge at 20 yds as well.
Then when I decided to move it out to 25 meters I created this post for that distance. I use 28 yds instead , just a hair over 25 meters.
Thanks for the links and the offer to email a pdf, also much appreciated! I hope you are able to get in touch with Mike Manabe, and that all's well w/him and his.
One more question if I may, I read of scores ranging from "oops" to 250-ish. How are these targets scored? I'm not a paper puncher, at least not in any sort of organized fashion.
It's so very simple to score these targets. You're either inside the bull completely for a score of 1point. If you break the ring it's no points. the 250 you are hearing about is from the benchrest thread and is a different target. They are scored using a .22cal plug. 250 is the highest number score meaning you hit every bulls eye. 25x is the top score you can get for not just touching, but removing the 10 dot from the paper.
Yeah Mark, here's some links to help explain the Benchrest target shooting. Manabe used his 120 kz targets at 13 meters indoors to practice for his 25 meter matches when he could make them.
I PM'd Mike a few weeks ago about a certain RAW .22 barrel. He got back to me, so he's alive! It was a PM, so I don't feel comfortable passing on any of our exchange.
Thanks Chas I understand keeping our exchanges private and I'm sure Mike appreciates it as well. I'll PM him. Maybe my email went to spam or he's changed email addy?
