Kim, that's it.....I gotta have a dang Raw HM1000 in .22 with a competition barrel! Maybe next year if I'm lucky ;-)

Nah, just kidding with ya. You're letting us know it can be done if we practice correctly and have the right equipment.

Thanks Camp. This target was a surprise to me too. It's all the rifle - I just work on finding out what pellets it likes and the proper cleaning sequence. The real skill involved is Martin Rutterford's.

I will say that while progressing through the bulls anxiety grew, and it took some effort to keep concentrating on each shot.

There is no better fun than a very accurate rifle!

Well Jimmy' this is a pretty poor target. Im finding the sweet spot still. As soon as it is possible i will invest in a regulator.

Thanks for posting a target. Shows you just how difficult the challenge can be...but you made a fantastic effort.
Looks like you might have had a little trouble with the wind?
But I'll betcha your next target will be even better than this one!!
Good luck finding the "Sweet Spot", and I look forward to your future targets

Yes Sir Jeff, thanks for taking the time and posting that target. Don't forget to tell us your rifle and ammo. I know you shot that with your Hatsan ( Your very first PCP) but other folks that read might be interested in knowing just a bit more. Like me for instance.....what pellets did you use? The 14.3 Crosman Premier? Have you tried JSB yet?

As Mike said, it made a believer out of me at how difficult this is, and I commend you for taking the challenge. Looks about in line with my shooting a year ago, and I'm gradually improving and so will you. Especially once you find the magic pellet your rifle likes.

Mine is a standard HM1000 .22 (not x), and chrony shows it's putting out about 27 fpe. So it may like different pellets.

So far JSB 15.89 gr seems best. AA 16gr - which have 5.51mm heads, not quite as consistent (evidently the 15.89s come in 5.51,5.52 and 5.53 which I've yet to try).

None of the 18.1gr JSB shoot as well, though at this weight the 5.53mm heads seem best.

Crosman premium boxed dome: very tight fit in breech, not very accurate.

H&N FTT didn't shoot well in either the RAW or my TX.

I've also found this barrel likes to be clean but not too clean. After cleaning it takes 6-9 shots to settle down.

#6 already had a hole but i didn't want to waste the target :)

WoW!!! Can you post a picture of your Thomas?? They seem to be taking the benchrest matches by storm!!
That Target is beyond excellent Strever!!!...I hope I can Match it one day

I shot one of Mike's Thomas benchrest guns yesterday during practice at Open Grove Oxnard. An elegant purpose-driven design perfectly executed. It was LV .177, had no recoil on firing, and the X-hairs stay on POA through the shot cycle. These are the guns to beat in benchrest competition.

Mike - who designs and builds this benchrest rifle - is getting the Thomases of team USA tuned and ready for the upcoming Worlds in Australia. AND he is a very nice guy and a good teacher!
