Out of elevation on Athlon Argos 6-24

I bought a new Athlon Argos 6-24 power scope to mount on my new Benjamin Marauder. I mounted it with a pair of medium rings. I sighted it in out back at 10 yards and I am at the very top of the elevation. Is this normal or do I need to find some type of mount that has 20-30 moa of elevation. I know that it will come down a little bit at 20-30 yards but I would like to be able to get out to 100 yards with this rifle. Did I buy the wrong scope or do I just need a different mount?

Think of the pellet's path: It raises and then falls. You center the scope, as Motorhead explained. You should never go to that extreme. Also, the magnification range can vary a bit. I hope you are using the lowest setting. Remember that the pellet leaves the barrel and goes up, and then after whatever distance starts to fall. There are pictures of this here and elsewhere: google pellet flight and scope settings. Truthfully I did the same as you before. I can always be corrected, life is learning.

Trying to zero at 10 yards is extreme. The scope has to point strongly down to do it. I am surprised you were able. As Scott said 30 yards is a much better zero point for most air rifles. For a 750 fps gun like my Prod 25 works better. Maybe for a real high velocity gun 35 would be better. But for my 800-900 fps guns 30 is about perfect. It allows me to always hold over, never under.

Here's a chart from the ChairGun app showing what @Motorhead was explaining with using the 30 yard zero.

Also with the Marauder, it has that floating barrel that may get tweaked downward from sitting against a wall. And because of this you may not be able to get that elevation out of it. Setting them against a wall like this also tends to move the point of impact around at the next shooting session. To fix this impact shift on my semi auto Marauder I jammed a thin oring in between the barrel shroud and the barrel band to hold it tight. A few wraps of black electrical tape to take up the space would dobthe same. This procedure may cause point of impact issues when refilled, or it may not-- you'll have to experiment with the results.

If these things don't work, buy a set of those Burris XTR Signature rings with the inserts that @JEFFPPC suggested. They work great for moving the scope around to match the pointing barrel and protect the scope tube as well.

I looked up the rings and the Burris Signature Rings for am 11mm Dovetail only come in 1 inch rings. The athlon scope I have has a 30mm tube.
Try the o-ring or electrical tape trick around the shroud, under this barrel band and see if that moves the barrel up and steady. It won't take much movement to droop the barrel or to re-center it in that barrel band.

The Signature rings come in 1", 30mm, and 34mm. Are they in stock anywhere, I don't know. You'll need that adapter - 11mm to pic rail.

Or buy a scope that has tons of elevation travel. There are some out there with 33 mils of travel. I feel for you because I've had this same thing happen so I ended up buying the 1" Burris rings for my 1" tubed scope, and later on got a 30mm scope and new rings with much more elevation travel.

I sold the gun not much later then put the new scope and rings on a new gun. I was happier compared to the previous everything.
