N/A Overfilled - Now reg pressure drastically dropped

Hey Folks, I need some help here. Like a fool, I trusted the auto shut off on the compressor I use to fill my guns with, and one of my Artemis P15's pressure gauge was maxed out when I noticed it hadn't shut off. Now the gun only shoots at about 750 fps, as apposed to the 850 fps it used to shoot. There are no external air leaks. I put the gun aside for the past few months and today I tore it apart and replaced the regulator (set at 120) with a huma I had lying around. I refilled it and started shooting and it was shooting at around 880. I adjusted the hammer spring and got it down to shooting at 850, and it was stacking pellets again at 50 yards (JSB 18gr) like it used to. (Yeah, I won the barrel lottery on this one!)

Anyway, after a dozen shots it started dropping off again and within another 10 shots it's only shooting 750 fps again. As I said, there are no external leaks. The gun sat for the past 4 months and the pressure gauge never dropped. I can't figure out what is causing the issue, but I wonder if the air cylinder slightly expanded when it was over filled and air is leaking internally somewhere. I would appreciate any help you folks have to offer. Thanks!

To which fill pressure level(s) are you filling your gun? Sounds like you may need to rebuild your regulator. Is there a gauge for the reg on that gun? If not, do you have a way to test your regulator? What sort of reg is the orinal (brand)? Now that you have a Huma in there I wonder what’s going on. Did the o-rings on the Huma look good before installing theReg? Did you lube them with silicone grease prior to installing?

It's an Artemis P15. The fill is 250 bar If, but I typically fill to 230 because thats the rate for my fx guns. As I said, I only overfilled it 1 time, and the issue started. I eliminated the regulator as being the issue because replaced it and the problem still exists. The o-rings on the regs are fine and lubed.

There are much smarter people here than me, but I'll go ahead and make a fool of myself anyway. I had the same results (velocity declined during shot string), with an UNregulated gun. It was too much hammer. Your regulator setting may or may not be 110 bar. Maybe back off the hammer 1/8 to 1/4 turn and shoot 5-10 shots until the velocity levels off. You might need a bunch of shots to find that consistency your looking for. If it does find a hammer pre-load that shoots steady, your good. If the velocity is lower than you want, bump the reg to get to what you want. I sure hope I'm not being totally stupid. I wish you well. Bill and Addi

I'm going to hazard a guess on it needing a cleaning and polishing on the hammer and poppet stem side of things. If it has a new clean regulator, with the air cylinder recently removed, then it is likely the firing system and something interfering with consistency there.

Also, I have read where new regulator's do "settle in" at a lower set point once used and worn in. So that new regulator may need to be looked at, cleaned and re-set to your desired pressure.
