P-Rod or Bullpup

Going further down the rabbit hole. I would like something a little smaller, lighter and handier than my M-Rod. I am happy with the power and accuracy of my M-Rod and would like to stay 22 Cal. Haven't handled anything but read about the P-rod/stock and the Benjermin bullpups. Going to go used since they are a bargain. What should I be looking for?

I love my Prods, but the power is limited with the short barrel. As long as that's not a problem, you should be good. I have one of mine tuned to 16 fpe in .22 and it seems pretty happy running at that power.

some bullpups now, are heavy full sized guns really .. prod is the death angel to smaller critters, its fast and handy and lends itself to the task ..something about the reserved speed which is respectable, but not super fast, that really knocks them out to .. its accurate af to within its reach boundries .. but if targets are more your thing one of the larger guns will serve better, albeit under 40 a prod will give most guns a run for their 'accurate' money, mines like 1/4" accuracy, stacks um, under 40 ...

16 FPE is plenty for squirrels or pesting , unless your trying to be supershot and do 105 yard sparrows . just sayin'

Absolutely. I primarily pest with 12-18 fpe. It's just that the community has moved to thinking that anything less than 25-30 fpe in .22 is underpowered.

Also, why not both? Prod bullpup

I don't know much about the guns that you are talking about, but if you re looking for a true bullpup (short !)...

Here's a used gun that is very accurate. Plenty of YouTube videos with people shooting them. I know that mine is fun to shoot, accurate, good trigger, not too loud. Has an adjustable trigger and power settings.
Small, comfortable, well built.

Heard good things about the Caiman. But I think I would be cruising the AGN classifieds for a used Veteran for the same price, if it were me. YMMV

If you are considering the Benjamin PROD I suggest that you buy the Umarex Notos instead.
I have both.

The Notos is about $250-260 MSRP and can be found cheaper.
The PROD is about $400-$500 MSRP and can be found around $370-$400.

The Notos out of the box has a better build and a moderator included.
Out of the box The Notos will give you 21 shots at about 18-20 FPE.
I tuned mine to give me 50 shots with CPHP 14.3 grains at 700 FPS which is about 15-16 FPE.

With my PROD I had to spend many many hours of research and tuning to get it to an acceptable condition.
Now I can get 32 shots (4 mags) 660FPS to 690FPS with CPHP.

NOTOS obsoletes PROD

Out of box it may appear that way as it comes with more stuff. P-Rod will be more expensive by far especially after all the upgrades but that's part of the fun. I haven't seen anyone that can even take off the moderator and put an aftermarket one on Noto, plus Crosman will have parts for the P-Rod forever. Add a regulator and a carbine stock the P-Rod is just awesome. IMOH there aren't may great little carbines between a souped up PRod and the dream-tac compact, at DTC price range there are a few good options. I have owned multiple budget Chinese pistol/carbines, they all ended up not much cheaper and PIA to find parts for so sold them all while still have all 3 of my Crosman "pistols".

To OP: why not P-Rod BullPup?

The cool thing about the metal Rapid70 bullpup kit is that the end of the stock meets almost perfectly with the end of the air tube. So you can keep it as a short little pup, or screw in a tank adapter where the fill assembly would be, add a 20" Mrod barrel and you have a poor man's Impact looking thing.

If you do not own both the Prod and the Notos then your opinion is not very useful.

I do own both and the Notos is far better in performance with a better build too.

What i do not like about the Notos is the non removable moderator.
The trigger on the Prod is better too.

Yes the Crosman support, warranty and part availability is much better.
But out of the box the Prod performance is much worse than the Notos.
