P17 time today...

I am not as visually acute as I once was so a red dot. I used to shoot smallbore silhouette in pistol optics and revolver open sight but there is none of that being done around here.

I picked up a Beaman P17 a while back and set up a 10 meter range at home. I love messing with it. I usually shoot 2 hand off-hand but venture into one handed on occasion. I have shot it so much one of the pins work loose. Thus the goofy paint. For an under $80 rig this this is great.

I took it to the 10 meter range at the club today and shot 4 5 bull targets 2 handed. I shot 3 bulls 1 handed after 2 warm up bulls.

That's good shooting with no rest. I shot my P-17 for a bit today. Chrony'd it and was very consistent MV at 450fps +/- only 5fps. Shooting Crosman 7.0gr domed.

I have been shooting AA Field 8.44 4.52mm. It liked Sig Sauer 7.71 and RWS Meisterkugeln 7.?? as well.

The P-17 is a very good value and a lot of fun to shoot. I have both the P-17 and the P-3. They are very similar, with the P-17 being made in China and the P-3 being made in Germany. My experience with the 2 pistols is that the P-3 is marginally more accurate: but it is also 4 or 5 time the cost.

I also have a Stoeger XP4, which is similar type pistol and sells for a reasonable price. If you like the P-17 and get a chance, I recommend picking up an XP4. It's a lot of fun to shoot the XP4 and P-17 one after the other to compare them. I've found the accuracy to be about the same.
