packed away for years, new2me Beeman P1, pre-fire questions

Today I scored a pistol I've had my eye on for a while.

It's been a while since it's been fired. Perhaps decades.

I'm no noob to airguns, at the very least it'll be cleaned, lubed, and visually checked.
Buuuuuut anything I might want to especially keep an eye on before loading it up?

Thank you!

thanks for the interest, i'll share more pics later. perhaps some targets :)

yes, .177. so far, really clean, zero rust, and nothing looks as if it won't shoot.

reviewing a couple youtube videos too.

i never really thought i'd get one, long on my bucket-list. but got lucky in a local deal.

picked up a few others too, part of a set. but eh, this is the one i wanted.

The HW 45 is one of those designs similar to some older webleys that used a Solid Teflon piston seals. What kept said seal expanded and sealing is from IMPACT into the roof of compression chamber. It is a known practice to DRY FIRE these if and when performance is sub par. * Don't do this with your typical spring piston air guns !!!

This design is an exception and safe to do so.

These pistols don't need or want direct vent hole / piston lubrication being only requirement is of Spring, pivots points etc.

Enjoy your new to you pistol !

For future information.

The trigger on my P1 (actually my HW45 wasn't great either) was pretty marginal. The second stage pull was long and not smooth.

There are videos (one guy has made four or five videos) on/in YouTube that explain how to adjust the triggers in very clear instructions. This adjusting make a huge difference in the trigger pull, which also increases the guns accuracy.

So I sold my P1 in in .22 cal I just didn’t like the way it cocked and shot.it was one of the new ones with the white lettering. Well a couple days ago this one popped up on the auction sight, turns out the guy lives local. I picked it @ a good price and it came with both a Beeman pell set and pell size along with a bunch of pellets. I have been shooting it open sight and really enjoying it, might not scope this one.
