Paintball holder

My boys have really been enjoying popping paintballs lately....
Today I was working on other projects...had the table saw out....and remembered some flat steel strips that I had saved from the remodel project. The previous owners of our house had tile kitchen counters, with steel edges.

This is what it became....

Scrap 2x4 with some feet to get up higher than the brushhog cuts the back pasture....steel on the side seeing the pellets.....countersink a bunch of holes to hold the paintballs. Nothing fancy, but worked a treat.

This is the youngest.....

He was able to get them initially at 55 yards but took him enough shots that he was getting frustrated. Moved it into 35 yards and he gives it his stamp of approval, evidenced here.

Paintballs make a great airgun target, nice satisfying PLOPP! when the pellet connects. And sometimes the splat effect can be seen in the scope. Fun stuff.

Looks like your boy is having a blast! He’s a fortunate kid to have a cool dad that lets him plink with a Taipan Vet! 😎

I made something very similar a couple years ago but I used a 48” length of pressure treated 4x4 and protected the facing edge with a piece of angle iron that I had laying around. I drilled the holes through the top facing edge of the angle iron (and 4x4) about 3/4” deep and just the right diameter to accept golf ball tee’s... I insert tee’s in each hole and place the paintballs on top off the tee’s…

I made up a game where each participant gets a total of 10 shots to attempt to hit 10 paintballs each balanced on tee’s. If you hit a paintball, you get 2 points. If you hit a tee, you lose a point. The shooter with the highest score wins!

Thank you for the idea. I have quite a collection of plastic of pill bottles I have accumulated over the last few years. The younger grand kids were using them for building blocks. Now they are getting old enough to shoot. I have a Diana Chaser co2 kit in .22 caliber. So, I think I'll fill those pill bottles up with paint balls and let them have at it.

great posture from that kid. looks like he seem to know what he is doing.

Lol, kinda improvising. Tripod won't go lower and seat needs to be that height to be able to shoot at targets on the ground (lower seat would make gun point up in the air). So the blocks under his feet allow him to get his elbows on his knees, like a guy (or kid) needs to for stability in "Hunter" class in field target.

Every shooting session is an adventure with this one.
