Paintball tank

I have spent hours studying this and can't find the answer so. If I buy a paintball tank that is current and that tank has a valve on it can I connect to that valve to fill my rifle. I don't know what connector I need to fill. I would like to carry enough air to shoot a match or go out of town to hunt. I can't afford the high dollar tanks that are the norm. I have someone that want to sell a almost new Ninja carbon fiber tank because he changed hobbies and I am tempted buy I can't afford to but it if I can't use it.

I am sure this 411 is on here somewhere I just have not found it. I have a Hatsan Spark and a hand pump but the Ninja I could put in a back pack and fill a few times without killing my self pumping( health issues).

I almost bought a SCBA then I learned about the 15 year rule.

While I am at it. The Fire Depts. around here rent their SCBA tanks so has anyone rented a tank to use for personal use? Might be an option.

Thanks for any replies in advance

God bless

I have the Ninja Tanks. You need the Ninja Gold regulator which is pretty hard to get right now. PA is out of stock and has been for a while. It is a 4500 PSI regulator with a 3000 PSI output. That alone is about $100. You'll want the largest tank possible as shooting can take lots of air. I have the 88 cubic inch. Works well. That's about $200. You can't use regular paintball valves as they have a max output of around 800 psi.

Next, you'll need the fill station. It's a thing that screws on top of the regulator and has a hose on it. The hose has the fittings that either attach to your gun or to another hose that attaches to your gun. That's about $100

So for an 88 ci tank you have $400 invested. Not too many fills either. When tuning my last gun, I was refilling the tank every 3 or 4 gun fills. That's plenty for an hour of serious shooting but no where near enough for the day.

You can buy a 74cf carbon fiber tank from PA or other vendors with valve and fill station stuff all in one unit for about $600. I know it's more money, but long run, will probably serve you better. I just bought the 74 cf tank, should be here shortly.

I do see two advantages to the Ninja tanks. 1. you can't overfill your gun. It's a regulated output at 3000 psi. You can't fill you gun past that. 2. if you want to shoot tethered, it's is a regulated output, so you don't need another regulator and still can't overfill your gun.

Disadvantages include finding parts when you need them. My fill station broke a while back. Little brass pin snapped off. Had to buy a new component. I got lucky and found the right one at some off beat Paintball supply house. It's a different fill station from the regular paintball tanks. I couldn't shoot while I waited for parts. Pretty flimsy construction / design. I also have 2 tanks, and regulator on one is toast. That why I know PA is out and so is everyone else (Amazon included) of replacement regulators.

I've tried to cut every corner on my tanks and finally after spending plenty on the Ninja setup, went to the standard tanks. Tanks are becoming one of the most expensive components of my shooting. Not happy about that at all, but that's where it is right now.

Saltlake58 gave you the good information. Here is a bit more with prices you probly don't want to see.

This is the The Ninja fill station 3000psi unit with the 3000 psi gold regulator

Here is the fill station in stock and for sale but without the regulator

Here is the complete set up with the tank.

The ninja fill station e-z Fill is a far better unit and will do a slow fill to whatever psi you want. This is the one you really want in case you change guns to one that needs a higher fill later on.

You can get more, bigger tank, if you buy the China made stuff but with the hand pump and all you probly don't want it. Also the Chinese tanks have metric threads so you need the whole set up.

Unless you can rent a tank for $2 or $3, the cost of a $400 and $600 tank over fifteen years, a month you would be better off buying one.

Not far off what I was quoting. $350 for the 90 CI tank setup. but having had the ninja setup, I find it limiting in both size and pressure. The 3000 psi output pressure does become limiting with guns that allow higher fill pressures.

I'll keep my current Ninja tank for times when I want to run tethered. Consider though, 90 cubic inches vs 74 cubic feet for not quite twice the money. The fills you get from the 90 cubic inch tank is very limited. 74 cubic feet - the number of fills is just on another level.

I agree on the China stuff. Don't know who worked on it or where it came from. unless it was DOT certified, I'd avoid.

The Ninja tanks do work, my point was that for a bit more, the capacity goes WAY UP!

If you haven't purchased the tank yet, PA has a 100 cubic inch tank that isn't regulated. Normal price is $400; however they have refurbs for $300. What a refurb means, I have no idea,

This tank does remove one disadvantage of the Ninja setup. You can fill to over 3000 PSI. I just noticed today that my ninja is only filling my guns to about 170 bar (2600-ish PSI.) Regulator isn't working correctly.

If I were going small, I'd start here. Just my opinion

Oh, and you are right. Not a game for poor folks. That I know. After 10 years in the sport, I've spent way too much. That's why I started with Ninja tanks in the beginning. They were the least expensive tank option that could work for me!
