Painting Carbon Fiber airgun cyinders

I know I've read something about this before and I just can't remember the article now.

Is it safe to paint a CF airgun cylinder? I was thinking about covering the label with tape to leave it intact and readable and painting the remainder of the cylinder.

I'm relatively sure there is no federal regulation about painting on any cylinder, only the restriction that it cannot cover vital information and not to hide defects. But, that doesn't mean it is safe either.

It's safe but it's a very good idea to tape over the label as you said. Really, no restrictions on painting other than not painting over the label. It will not harm or degredate the cf wrap or the resin overcoat.
