Check out the Caldwell Precision Turret Shooting Rest. This thing has all kinds of movement at any angle or sweep, or it can be clamped down tight. It is heavy enough to be just set on the bench or you can easily mount it to a steel plate with small bolts through the feet for added rigidity. It works good with pistols or rifles of any configuration. The sale price of $120.00 on Amazon can't be beat for what you get.

If you are a bench shooter, long distance and large volume, and need to re-aim on multiple rings... the ballheads just asking for trouble.

Much better with floating/levelling head (this one I put together from two heads into a single unit - pans and rotates)

And now pay attention, how many segments you see on this tripod legs?
Only one segment, and it is filled with #9 lead shots.
