I guess it depends on your purpose. If the faint red glow doesn't bother what you hunt at night, you can use 850 for better performance. Or if 940 is effective to your required distance (say 50 yards), you can use 940 to be sure your targets don't get disturbed.

Sort of, and here is the sort of, if the optics aren't designed for the 940 or are garbage, they won't work as well. There is a guy on the AGN forum using a 940 and he's reaching out to reasonable distances, pushing 100 yards. The night critters CAN be spooked by the 850 glow. As another note you can use a 850 or 940 interchangeably for the most part so, there is no law that says you can't have the mother of all 850's mounted. Just my .02¢ worth.

Just an interesting note, I checked Amazon same price BUT this little tidbit popped up..."This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location." They can't ship to Kommieforniastan hmmmmmm. But PARD had zero problem and....best part is, they didn't charge me Sales Tax which is a no-no but not my problem.

@HogKiller I've only used 850 IR for my NV scopes. 950 is fine for trail cams. I'm reading that you cannot use them interchangeably. I'd have to take your word on that one or see it for myself. I've only seen myself on an 850 IR trail cam at night once when I forgot to turn off my IR torch and I walked in front of the camera while packing it out of the area. The IR on my rifle was bright was hell, but the IR torch was an 850 too.

I'm waiting to learn more about these newer Pard units. They've released a few recently.

850nm is the standard IR Illuminator, this has a small red glow and may be seen by some animals. 850 gives the most range of the 2 options

940nm is a higher wavelength and is not visible to animals; it is sometimes called stealth or covert - it doesn't have the red glow, but the trade-off is less range
(DS35 850nm, the observable distance in full dark environment is 380yds, 940nm is about 330m )
you have however use an external torch in the other wavelength to cover all your bases of range, size and stealth

Where is the update located? The one I just got clearly does not have these zoom options.

It appears to be for the Gen1 DS35. I deleted the link from my post. Given your concerns, might be best if you edited the quote in your reply.

There is another post in that thread about emailing a UK supplier for the update.

Ok, I need some adjustable rings, mounted the scope yesterday, took it out today and....sorry pal not enough elevation, declination???...dropping the adjustment into the far negative reaches, maxed out. So I did a quick wild guess and shoved a thick brass shim under the rear LIGHTLY, and got it very close but still at max end of adjustment.

I've gone back through all of the post and I know that someone said they were buying adjustable ones but...I can't find it.

So...HELP before I spend the bucks on Eagle visions. But in-spite of that...I tried it at 11 yards then moved out to 21 yards and boom it worked, this is without any actual ballistic data. The adjustment is easy enough, line up on a mark, making sure NOT to touch the rifle, fire, then carefully go to the first menu and select reticle adjustment, hit the top button, go down to X and the screen is locked, you can do what ever you want, make your X & Y adjustments, scroll down to the bottom and HOLD #1 to save it, takes a few seconds and you're off and running.

Oh eye relief , I was literally at the end of my stock and had zero issue seeing the screen.

On my wish list is a bit more magnification, I'm absolutely spoiled by my Atkins at 24x.

A note the focus is TOUCHY.

Based off of this review, I used FX No Limit mounts on mine...
But I've still not sighted it in. Today was rainy and I'm a fair weather shooter.

The focus is touchy for sure. Unfortunately, I didnt get to do much with it at all today. Hoping for decent weather tomorrow so I can go sight in.

Yep - ran into the same issue with rings and running out of adjustment room. I assume it a limitation of the size of the front center and moving the image around to keep the reticle centered. For my 10 yards I needed about 14 Mil of adjustment and the digital limit appears to be around 10.

I went with the Eagle Vision rings because Penchetta has them at a really good price. Should be here Monday.
