So what exactly is that seal for? I can’t see it on the diagram.

I really can't say as I have not had mine apart yet. Expect you will have to disassemble it to figure it out.

ok, just opened it up and found that the oring on the parts diagram is 6.2905 part number, number 7 on the diagram to the left. 

where would i get that from the quickest way? live in USA.

Take the o-ring off and take a set of calipers/micrometer and take the measurements that are on the site to select the correct size. My guess is that it will be a BUNA 70 and not a 90, but you can get a couple each and try.
