Password security

Dear Members,

We've noticed an increase in active accounts being taken over by scammers (thieves). In many instances we've been informed that the email account associated with the AGN account has also been compromised. Please DO NOT reuse passwords across multiple accounts, and PLEASE ensure that you are using a strong password.

*Even if you aren't active in the Classified forum, if a scammer took over your account they could use your reputation to scam other members.

If our SPAM filter detects that your account shares anything with previously identified scammers you may be sent a password reset.

Arguing about security is a waste of our time, and tells us that you don't care about your fellow airgunners:

To modify your password click: on your Avatar, the cogwheel symbol, Password & Security. Or if you've forgotten your password, logout (if your already logged in via autofill), then beneath the login prompt click "Forgot Password".

If you need help creating a password you can use a random password generator such as https://www.avast.com/en-us/random-password-generator

To ensure your account is secure we suggest using a 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) app

To turn on 2FA: click: on your Avatar, the cogwheel symbol, Password & Security, choose Two-Step verification. You can select verification via email (less secure and may be blocked by your ISP) or via an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).

The email verification is almost worthless if a scammer already has access to your email, so we do not recommend this method. 2FA via an Authenticator app works flawlessly and exceptionally well. You only get prompted once a month for the verification code.
