Paypal fees

Here are the fees:

My assumption is 3% is correct. Some maybe charging you an extra 1% to transfer the money out of PayPal faster (Transferring balance from Personal Accounts section).

I have never tried the pay through PayPal where you (the purchaser) do not have an account, but possibly that is considered a "3.5% plus $0.15 for manually entered transactions".

Friends&family is fine as long as the person your sending money to has been on this site for multiple years and has great feedback, I wouldn’t send money to someone who has been on here a month with no credible feedback so let’s say someone joined in say October that just won’t work, if someone has been here for a cpl years and other members say he’s ok. Then shouldn’t be an issue.

The fees are really intended to go to the seller. Exactly the same as when you use a credit card at the store. The store pays a similar fee to the credit card company for each transaction...usually somewhere between 1.5-3%. And as the buyer, you don't see an additional fee on your receipt for this, but arguably it is rolled into the seller's overhead. Not sure why it has become so acceptably common here on AGN to just directly transfer this fee to the buyer.

Personally, I don't charge any additional paypal fee when selling things here. But to each their own...

A great policy for this forum regarding sales would be for the seller to add the fee to the final price straight out, no F&F.

Exactly. But the fee doesn't even need to be brought up. If someone is selling a $1,000 gun, and they're concerned about the paypal fee, they can just add $30 to their asking price, or the total bottom line price that they send to the buyer if there are offers. It's no concern of the buyer why the seller's bottom line price is what it is. Adding a small percentage as an additional paypal fee just seems silly to me.

Yes, that's what I meant. Agree 100%.

That’s what I would figure, as soon as I see f&f or 3% pay pal, I lost interest already, unless it’s a really good deal, which I don’t see here very often. Then some say shipping on top of it. Just charge a realistic shipping price and the 3% in your asking price, so much easier, that way buyer knows exactly what the price is, so much easier and faster. xxx.xx tyd ( everything included) not xxx.xx tyd plus shipping and pay pal fee, that is NOT tyd,

I hope Michael reads this and considers making it a policy.

Advertise the price as TYD with fees and shipping included. This should expect coast to coast shipping with a possible credit if closer.
