So during those 5 years did you make income? Of course you did. Were your operational cost really more than you brought in? Highly doubtful.
I know my master contractor doesn't pay income tax either because of all his deductions, yet he has the means to go on multiple trips a year and pay me a decent wage. I pay taxes on that wage, even with my own deductions.
How's that work then? I've seen his books and know what he brings in but pays no taxes?
Is that tax fraud or just using the system as it's designed?
Technically, you are supposed to pay yourself a wage out of the company earnings and be taxed on that income, even as an owner/operator.
