So I’m new to the pcp rifle world. I have a maurauder .25 cal, a sun fire 201 .357 and a Kral puncher breaker marine .25 and I use a scba tank to fill with. My problem is with a hand pump I can get my pressure to 2800-3000 psi but when filling with my tank I can only get 2500 max on any of my rifles. Why? Is my tank wrong? Thanks for any help

How much pressure do you currently have in your SCBA tank? What SCBA tank are you using and do the gauges on your tank correlate to the pressure gauges on your gun?

im using a Scott tank and fill it to 3000psi. But when I fill my rifles it will only fill to the 2500 range

Is your SCBA tank rated for 4500 PSI? If so, try having it filled to at least 4300 PSI when cooled -- the pressure in the tank usually drops as the tank cools after filling.

You'll only get 1 full pressure fill from a 3000psi tank, if you're lucky. If you can only get your tank filled to 3000psi maybe ask for a 3200psi fill. Otherwise 4500psi when cold.

Those Scott tanks are firemen tanks. They are rated for 4500 psi. Why fill to only 3000? You won't get your guns to 3000 psi cause the air in the tank flows into the gun..making the tank drop in pressure. So depend on size of your airgun bottle. You be lucky to get 2600-2700 psi fill. Try filling your fireman tank to 4500 psi. Then you will be able to fill your guns to 3000 psi. Shut off valve when bottle on gun gets to 3000 psi so you dont over fill.

Thanks guys. Yes my tank is a 4500psi tank. I have the yung shun(spelling lol) compressor and will try to fill to 4000+ next time I fill my tank and see what happens. Thanks again

I think now they only make 4500 and 2216, but your suggestion could be a real dangerous one.

I would be careful with the compressor. Some compressors work really hard filling tanks to higher pressures. You may want to extend the life of your compressor as long as possible.

Do you have a gage that has two pressure readings- one for tank pressure the other for the gun-if so trust the one on the tank some gun gages are off my marauder gage shows 250 psi lower than the tank gage

As tank lowers in pressure it is trying to equalize with the guns reservoir , that’s why most of what you see written and in videos says I started at 250 bar

Most cf tanks are 4500. aluminum tanks are 3000 psi. Also know what your tank fill pressure is duh. Oh idk my tank fill pressure, imma fill it to 100000 psi. Used common sense duh

Yes I watch the temp very close and run it in stages to keep it cool. And always keep ice in the water tub lol

Comments like this are why I stopped posting for a while. Guess I'll stop again. FYI I bet there are just as many 2216 CF tanks in use as their are 4500psi tanks
