Pcp for 8yr old boy

Hello,
My 8yr old son wants an air rifle to shoot with dad. I want a pcp since I have tanks and a compressor to fill it. Probably a 177 and a magazine with a good shot count. He will just be plinking and shooting targets. I don't want a huge gun for him and probably something with adjustable stock to grow with him. Price range up to 400. Any suggestions?

It seems from what I've seen it's to low of a shot count before refill. I do like the adjustable stock

Notos, turn down the power and get lots more shots, you can get over 30 shots stock, if you dial down the regulator and adjust the hammer spring you can get more, or you can do what I did and make it a Bottle gun

I made this for my granson. Crosman 1701p. Chopped Crosman stock. Swapped out .043 tp with Crosman 1720 .067 tp. 3-9 bug buster on top. Jsb 8.4 @ 675 fps/8.5 fpe for 20/25 shots. No mag but very accurate starter carbine.

I had my 7 y/o son out shooting in the back yard last night. He was watching me shoot the Beeman R9 and wanted to do it too. I have a heavily modded PRod with adjustable Buck Rail stock, RTI reg and bottle on the bottom, and 5x Imersive Prism. He was shooting off my tripod at about 12-13 yards and getting super excited at the sound of the steal target rack clinking and paint marks left. Just a tin of crosman hp and a couple mags later he was done. The adjustable stock helped greatly and the illuminated reticle made it easy for him to see. Found out he is right handed but left eye dominate. Having an adjustable stock is key.

Not a expert on the 2 , but that notos is popular and not much if any negative posts on it here . Looks to be a satisfying buy in somthing like that . Only .22 no .177

Yeah I might have to get it. It's just that I have thousands of 177 pellets. I only own one 22 Air Rifle. The rest of them are 25s and 20s

My daughter, when she decided she wanted to play too, commandeered this. A woodswalker with a bugbuster IR, bipod, and adjustable stock. All together around $700, so a standard prod would be around $500, I guess. Stock was getting 24ish shots. As soon as I get around to it, I'll order the 10 shot mags and shave them down for 2 extra shots.

Just get him a red rider and some dust devil BBs. Don't have to worry about Ricochets and he won't try and do anything with HP air without you there. If he becomes bored with shooting you won't be out a lot of money unless you're going to use this as an excuse to get another gun?

I don't own one but I did have a chance to shoot one for a few days. The Notos would be what I would purchase in PCP for an 8 year old boy.

I second the Air Venturi Avenger, you can get a wood stock one for 429.00 set the regulator on 1400 psi and get about 130 shots in .22.

If length of pull is a problem you can cut the stock. If you can swing the Tactical then like mentioned before, it can grow with him in size and learning to tune on his own.
