PCP Handpump help

There's some sort of liquid leaking from the meter while I was using my pcp handpump today. Can somebody please tell me what this is, and what I need to do? What type of liquid is this? Can the pump still be used?

That liquid is silicone oil coming from the gauge. It is leaking because rubber seal on the side of the gauge fell off or got pushed off.

Good news is that it is OK to still use the pump, as silicone oil inside the gauge is only for protection of the gauge during shipping.

There is more to it than shipping protection. It is used as a damper to minimize vibrations which can cause metal fatigue. While it isn't all that important with hand pumps, it certainly is when using electrically-driven ones. The bottom line is, refill the gauge with glycerin replace the plug. Glycerin can be purchased inexpensively at any health food store, and from most drug stores.

Thanks so much for the info. Guess I will do just that. Buy some glycerin and refill...

Was your gauge filled with dampening fluid???
Dampening fluid is normally used in gauges that see high vibration. I wouldn't think it would be necessary to have it in a hand pump. JMHO.

No need at all i the hand pump, do put the dust cover plug back in.
