HI guys,
I think I've got a goodie. To me this is a powerful tool and toy.
The pic shows a 3 mm PE welding wire. I cant't do that but what I can do is to hold its end over a candle and let it flare. (this is supposed to be used for the 0.177 caliber, for .022 rods of larger diameter do better and to powerful airguns, say 12 ft.lbs. minimum).
So, what can they do? With little experience you can produce the correct size to really let the airgun bang. A beautiful popgun in order to shoo away birds. Quite impressing. And when the size is a bit more the plug won't move but stick at the barrel entry.
And then you can check if both, piston and breech seal is ok in a time. The piston is supposed to rest before it's natural stop and creep slowly forwards if at all. When opening the barrel you then hear the slight plop when the piston hits the bottom
Plug stuck inside the barrel? No problem, a brass rod of maybe 3 mm thickness removes it easily either let drop from above or pushed slowly if long enough.
I'm banging nearly every day. What is more, I have the feeling that this is doing good to the gun. It burns for instance excess grease in the pressure chamber. And when you smell a bit of hot PE everything is fine. It's definitely NOT dry firing. When it feels like dry firing the plug was too small.
