Tuning pellet clipping insight

Got some range time today with newish build . The gun is the NP-1100 Kral project . Currently configured with a 400mm barrel in 22 caliber , carbon fiber shroud . Ugly , ugly groups .... Started with the Koi went to the Shogun then no LDC at all and the groups shrank down to proper size . I figured out the LDC was seated against the shroud and not fully on the muzzle which resulted in a less than perfect alignment . What to do .....

I decided to put the shroud in the lathe and dress both ends square . Next I shortened the shroud so when the LDC is fully seated to the muzzle and the shroud seated to the action There is small gap between the shroud and LDC . I rotated the shroud out one rotation to apply tension to the barrel .

Bingo , back in business .

Sometimes the machined threads on the LDCs and adapters themselves aren't perfectlt machined to specs that causes inaccuracy issues.

Machinists know this fact who had to remachine their barrels in order to match the LDC threads.

Most non machinists won't know this fact but just notice wobbly LDC when threading half way then you know what's up why to need to go plus one size up and in many cases plus two sizes up.

Info wars.

I normally use an o-ring at the shoulder of the muzzle threads , up until this combination was enough to align the bores to not produce clipping . In my case ; this time , I believe the shrould induced an alignment issue . It's not in my earlier post ; but when the LDC was on without the shroud , groups where fine . The end of the tubing needed to be squared .
