Pellet prices - WTF?!

Don't get to shoot much, so the 2,000 pellets I bought way back have lasted me until now. Went to go buy my trusty 10.34 JSB and my jaw dropped. Since when did a 500 pack of JSB .177 go from $11.99 on PA to $19.99?!

4 years ago I bought a pile of 6x6" cedar posts. Back then I was buying the cedar at about $4 per foot. Now it's $20 per foot.

Ammunition prices hasn't even doubled. In these times, that's pretty good.

I also get that cringe reflex at the grocery store. Pyramyd is similar except the prices are further inflated to support the buy 3, get 1 free gimmick.

$14.99 on Trenier.

Thank you for the heads up Jason!

You might want to consider buying 10,000 and avoid this exact same statement when you run thru the new batch of 2,000. But look on the bright side you don't have to read mean tweets.

I guess just not any little boy or girl can grow up in be in charge like my 4th grade teacher said. Have you seen the automobile industry?
I went on a Toyota dealer lot to get my car serviced, and they only had maybe 2 dozen new vehicles on the lot, and most of those were trucks.

I know there are supply issues, but what's really going on is that China is engaged in full on economic warfare.

Good advice friend! I ordered as many as I can afford at the moment. Glad I don't have to see mean tweets anymore!

Except wages!!! Big BS there.

Spot on. Wage stagnation is going to lead to extreme social instability eventually.

Sorry If I don't feel bad for anyone with regards to pellet prices. I have two PCP that shoot the $6.50 500 tins of Crossman's 14.3 gr HP's.

Just look at the price of powder burning ammo and reloading components.

I don't buy the more expensive pellets as from what my testing has shown, the cost difference vs. performance is not there for me.

I have just been buying and shooting the cheep stuff right now. From what I have noticed it really only seems to be certain brands that have gone way up in price. I do think a big part of the issue is the mass purchases being made. Sure there are other factors at well, but when people buy insane amounts at one time this is going to happen. Seems to be the case with JSB for example considering they seem to be the go to pellet for many of the "elite" airgunners. I mean no offence by this. I often times see people coming on here and bragging about the vast amounts of pellets they have purchased. Lets not forget the A-holes who are scarfing them up just to scalp them on ebay or amazon. I have seen some absurd prices on those sites. Lets also not forget that there are a good number of powder burner guys moving to the airgun world as well.

I mostly shoot Crosman HPs as well. Most of my shooting is under 25 yards. For that range, pellet choice does not seem to matter very much.

Meanwhile, the healthcare industry is seeing massive wage increases right now. My wife just received her third pay increase this year. Before she was even paid out for the most recent increase, the hospital offered a massive retention bonus for her to sign an agreement saying she will stay for just one year. Huge price increases in healthcare/insurance are coming.

One thing is for sure trickle-down economics certainly works, with regard to increasing costs. The more the provider/pellet maker pays for materials and labor the more the end user pays. Throw in a middleman (insurance company/pellet dealer) and look out,...
