Pellet/Slug impact angles

I hope someone can help me out with this one. I have watched numerous videos over the years of airgunners shooting long range (100 yards and beyond). Something stands out to me. The angle and impact, especially when shooting paper targets, appear to always be perpendicular to the target. I have watched, in particular, a lot of AirTac Hunting videos where they show the looping trajectory of the pellet or slug. In my mind, there is no way the strike on the target could be at a 90 degree angle. I am NOT calling anyone out in any way. Just trying to figure out projectiles and aerodynamics.

The angle is not 90 degrees but it's close enough you can't see the difference. With slugs the drop of my airguns is about a foot at 100 yards. With pellets about twice that. But that's 1 or 2 vertical and 300 horizontal. If you look up the arc tangent of that ratio you'd get the deviation from 90 degrees.

I think it's less than 1 degree away from 90.

Its not 100 % perpendicular but it's close enough. Even at 200 yards and beyond slugs arent keyholing if youve got the stabilization for them. I wouldn't sweat it.
